TWG Peterborough - the car that got away?

Just out of interest, has anyone used TWG for any Porsche-related work?
I'm a little reluctant to use them because when I was looking (Dec 2014 - Jan 2015), they had a really interesting car for sale

http://www.twg-porscheservicing.co.uk/cars-for-sale/vehicle/?996_6

which I got really excited about. At the time, I think it was for sale at 14,995. When I phoned them about it, he said the car was getting a full steel liner conversion. So far, so good. I asked, while the engine was out, if he'd inspected the IMS/RMS to which his reply was "the what?". Claiming to be Porsche specialists and not knowing about an IMS, when a novice like me came on here and read threads about this most-talked about subject, put me right off. I didn't even bother to go and look at the car! What solidified my concerns were that I called numerous times to talk about the status of the car and the price he wanted and he never called me back.

Maybe I got the wrong guy on the phone, who knows. At the end of the day, I was an eager punter wanting to buy a car he had for sale throughout the process of rebuilding yet he didn't seem all that interested.

So this car was never on my radar but I'm thinking, if that is their attitude, should I even trust them completely with servicing my car?

If anyone's had any dealings with them, I'd really like to know what you think.

Yes, hence why I didn't even go and see it.
Scares me a little that if you don't do a tiny bit of digging yourself, even on a so-called specialist, you can get burnt.

Who knows, the car might have been sold and had a solid rebuild to boot. I'll never know but I walked at the first sign of a fishy smell.

Currently I use Auto200, in your neck of the woods HSC.
I've found the guys (Nick and Steve) very knowledgeable, very realistic and completely down to earth characters. Happy with them.

For me anyway, it's worth a trip to Bedford (less than 30miles) as they come in a lot cheaper than OPC Cambridge or DHMC.

Let me know next time you are down, I am in between Bedford and the A1, on the B660 which is a great road and leads back to the A1/A428 sort of

Thanks HSC, that road runs to the NE of Bedford so I've never been up there and across to the A428 but I'd be happy to hook up when I'm next over that way. I'd love to see your car 8)

Hi guys I had a clutch replaced on a 911 a few years ago they phoned me up telling me the work was done. When I got there they had parked it outside near the road it was filthy the interior had oil marks on the seats and carpets, that car was my pride and joy I would never go back

I have never heard anyone say anything positive about TWG.
I've been there once to view a car and it did not fill me with confidence on any
level.

Porsche Leicester are total top whack price for everything - you don't leave Leicester OPC thinking 'that was cheaper than expected' but they are very professional and offer a first rate service. Also they lent me a 991 GTS to test drive for the day recently which was wonderful.....

Can't recommend any dealers but I can recommend the B660 :thumb:

Avoid TWG. They charged me 3 hours Labour to change one coil pack.

I've heard of two other stories from people regarding overcharging practices.

I use Nick at Auto2000. A bit out of my way but rather that than twg.

Thanks to all the feedback on TWG. I'm so glad I didn't go and view the car when I was looking! Poor outfit, if the replies are to go by.

Yes Monty, I've used Auto2000 since I bought my car, top guys.

Hi Beej I use Porsche at Harston and I cannot fault them they have always done there best to help a bit more expensive than a indy but worth it imho :)

A vote for Dove House from me. been using then for 2 years, and always top service.
