as above! am actively looking for a 993 C2S, and am hopefully viewing a private sale car soon. will be a summer toy, odd trackday, weekend runs.
Currently own a Gardner Douglas Lola T70 replica which i built myself which has a 500bhp LS6 v8 in a 900kg spaceframe chassis (which is currently for sale on Pistonheads to make way for a 911), a concours Talbot Sunbeam Lotus which had a 7 yrs bare metal restoration, and a beautiful Ducati 748 SPS.
so you can tell i'm a car and bike nut lol!

i've already been looking for a month or so and have realised its hens teeth time finding a beautiful mint car within budget, but we'll see what happens.

Respect for the Sunbeam Lotus, I used to have a ti as a toy, better than a Mk2 escort.

Welcome to the club.

The C2S will be a little more practical than the Lola but you may not have quite the acceleration...

Best of luck, they're lovely cars. Great taste in bikes too, I have a 996 so I'm totally biased - which has been blueprinted (Sigma Performance/Snells "Full Monty" engine built to "Grunter" spec, with lightened flywheel and altered cams). Goes quite well, equivalent power to an SPS/SP but tuned for mid range as it doesn't rev out as much as the specials can.

My 993 is a NB C4 - at my local gym I often see a C4S in the same colour as mine (arena red with black interior) that I must say looks lovely.

Good luck with the search.

'within budget' you say :?: Depends on your budget - you can always find one available but it will come at a price :what:

Hi Welcome aboard!

Love the T70, one of the all time great looking sports cars, I remember seeing David Hobbs flying in one at the BOAC 500 back in the sixties! Peter Chambers had two in his shop when I took my 993 to the dyno.
I also had a Ducati, the 916 Senna in silk black (Reg S3NNA). What a mistake to sell that, but it was an uncomfortable b*gger to ride! (Current Mrs HPNer has a Ducati Monster in lipstick red!)
You may guess from my moniker that I have a HPN-1040 Paris Dakar.

:bye:

My Sunbeam Lotus is lovely and as mentioned as good as or better than a mk2 escort imho. The T70 is fairly brutal ie 7s to 100mph but is a pure track day car. I want a nice road car again i can do the odd easy trackday in if need be or take away for a weekend run.
Ive done a fair bit of research and hopefully have an idea now of what i want and have a budget in mind its just a case of the right car coming up and also being quick off the mark. It has to be a manual car for me and I'm hopeful i can find one soon. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hello Chris, and :welcome:

That really is a beautiful car, same sort of thing would do me nicely :)

On that basis, my advice is to be open minded about the 993 you end up with. I spent 2 years looking for 'the one'. I wanted it all. Condition. WB. 4S. Silver. Black leather. Low miles. Full history.

Surprise! These cars are a minimum of 17 years old and it's difficult to find one where all the stars align. In the end I checked most of the boxes. But not the WB. Do I still pine for one? Absolutely. Would a poor condition WB have made me happier than the pampered NB I eventually found? No it wouldn't.

If you hold out for exactly what you want it may never ever happen. I'm not saying you shouldn't strive for what you really want. Just be open minded and don't let other good opportunities pass you buy.

Thanks.

It is a NB (if not obvious).

I only mention as you stipulated a WB in your opening post.

Nice comments thanks and im happy to take any advice.
Only question i do have as such not having driven one is which is more fun to drive the 2 or 4?have read somewhere that the 4 will understeer less out of bends? Im used to driving a mid engined torquey rwd car with Quaife diff and no traction control or assistance and no p/s. It will lift off oversteer at the drop of a hat and will power oversteer at will. I'm thinking a 2 might be more fun ?or not much to choose
?
Or big can of worms lol?

A NB in similar condition etc would tick many boxes and I'd be happy. WB purely from perhapsa future value perspective but tbh want to enjoy driving the thing :)
