Hi all, I'm looking for a drive cable from the motor to the seat runner. It is the longer one of the two (27cm). I have managed to get the old one out - it. has snapped, so I need a new one. I phoned the Porsche centre in Bristol but incredibly they can only supply the complete seat base!

Does anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks,
Lee

Porsche list two parts one of which might be of use?

P/No:- 00004320706 - Pliable Shaft, Adjusting Motor, Lengthways @ £71.98 +VAT

P/no:- 99752190100 - Repair kit, pliable shaft @ £71.98

As a picture speaks a thousand words, which one is it:

All of the items numbered are available as individual parts.

It looks as if it is the cable that seems to be jointly labelled as 24. I note that as the motor is mounted on the LH side of the seat, the drive to the inner RH runner is a long cable with a plastic outer shroud, but the drive that comes out from the other end of the motor to drive the outer LH runner is much shorter (6cm), which doesn't seem to be shown. Fortunately it is the long one I want.

In which case ask the OPC for:

997.521.901.00 (replaces 00004320706) as advised above.

I'm fairly sure the seat innards are neither LH nor RH. But, no harm in getting the OPC to look at the manifest to check it is the correct side. The last digit in the third triplet is odd for LH and even for RH.

Ask for a discount as they advised you incorrectly in the first place.

EDIT: 24 is not a cable BTW, it's a shaft and a mount. Two words not often found together on the Internet. :nooo:

Looking back at my old posts I notice that I didn't respond with a thank you.

So a belated thanks for the part number. OPC were happy to order the part and I wasn't obliged to buy, so I went and had a look. The other piece attached to PART 24 in the diagram above is a light metal pressing on which to mount the motor and cable ends.

I didn't buy the OPC part, instead buying a speedo cable from SPEEDOGRAPH, a company who specialise in making speedo cables to order for vintage and classics, I just gave them the required length and end sizes and they made one up or a fiver. It doesn't have the outer furry coating so it rattles quite a bit in the plastic tube, but was £90 cheaper by the time VAT is added, simple choice.

The reason the cable failed was because something got wedged under the seat. Once the seat was out it turned out that this had also bent the metal motor mounting frame and was probably the reason that it is supplied with the cable. The old one was pretty easy to straighten out.

I took the seat out complete with runners so I could set the positions relative to each other and change the cable on the bench.

Heath and Safety note
: the seat weighs just over half a ton and will therefore need a crane to lift out. Seriously though, it took two to lift it from quite an awkward position and with plenty of paintwork and trim protection.

Note also that i drove the car without the seat while the part was on order, I now have a warning light on the dash that i have covered with a piece of card until the next service as i can't cancel it.
