The corporation said the presenter had been suspended "pending an investigation".

"No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday," it said.

"The BBC will be making no further comment at this time."

Update

Jeremy Clarkson dropped from Top Gear, BBC confirms

Jeremy Clarkson's contract will not be renewed after a physical altercation with a producer, the BBC's director general Tony Hall has said.
Lord Hall said he had "not taken this decision lightly" and recognised it would "divide opinion".

However, he added "a line has been crossed" and he "cannot condone what has happened on this occasion". Clarkson was suspended on 10 March, following what was called a "fracas" with Oisin Tymon in a Yorkshire hotel. The row was said to have occurred because no hot food was provided for him following a day's filming.

An internal investigation began last week, led by Ken MacQuarrie, the director of BBC Scotland. Mr Tymon did not file a formal complaint and it is understood Clarkson reported himself to BBC bosses.

After that, the BBC's director of television, Danny Cohen, felt he had no choice but to suspend the presenter pending an investigation.
The decision caused an outpouring of support from Top Gear fans, with more than a million people signing an online petition to reinstate him.

Good for Jezza. Not enough people like him any more.

World is full of girls.

Some say ........

........ that he was at Dunsfold last Saturday and upset a 911uk MOD with comments about so many 911s being allowed in one place at the same time.

I just posted the same story MOD can you remove mine?

Somewhat overdue. The puffed up shirt in windy conditions was somewhat off-putting :what:

I wonder if he's fallen out with his mate, Andy Wilman??

Some say.....

..... he's afraid of squirrels and once told GT4 and Newbuyer to "calm down" leading to elevenses at Jonttt's house.

So, what is the real story behind this? Anyone know?

Perhaps this is a ruse to stop the race between the supercars, orchestrated by Mac/Fezza.. ??

Isn't this new series "simulcast" around the world?

That's going to hurt Aunty Beeb in the pocket.

The show is filmed on a Wednesday so the 'fracas' was not in studio

His Sunday Times column will be a must-read...

and on that bombshell..........

Some say.........................he's well known to the Harley Street private mental health circle because of his fondness for non-driving-road-related white lines*...........

(*Allegedly.... )
