So I need a new clutch in the 997 C2S

I've shortlisted a few people to call about prices etc:

Addspeed (used before for servicing)
PSR (herts)
Weston Porsche
Project nine
Brooklands (Swanley)
HP Motorsport

But wanted to know if you guys have any experience or feedback on the above or any good reccomendations please...

Thanks in advance
Mark

Try your OPC, be polite and affable and share with them the costs you've had so far. You might be surprised.

Just had mine done at GT One Chertsey, great service.

PM me if you want more details. There are a few other things you could (should?) do at the same time.

Depends what age of car it is though.... post-05 then larger IMS so wouldn't say it's needed, agree?

Thanks for the replies so far guys .

Mine is a 2006 model with the bigger IMS bearing :) but will ask for it to be checked anyway whilst the clutch is out.

Hi OP SVP quote for a new Sachs clutch fitted including VAT £899 I know that it is not in your area it shows what the going rates are hope this helps :thumb:

Mine is a 56 (MY 2007) and was leaking quite badly, so I was opposite to you - checked my clutch while doing the seal - it was fine.

where is SVP?

Some prices ive been quoted (all are for sachs clutch)

Addspeed - £977 inc vat
PSR (herts)
Weston Porsche-  clutch kit £415, flywheel £598, crank shaft oilseal £29.58, labour £360
Project nine - £960
Brooklands (Swanley)
HP Motorsport
Elite Porsche - £945
Parr - £1020
Porsche Tonbridge - £1200
Ferraghini £960

Now im even more confused as some have said definately replace the dual mass flywheel, others said they'd check condition upon removal of the clutch and then some have said theyve never replaced one in the 3 years he's been working at the specialist....

what to do!?!?

Let them inspect the flywheel when the gearbox is out and advise you.
If you have caught a knackered worn clutch early enough the flywheel should be fine. Problems happen mainly when you run the car with a slipping clutch and it overheats the flywheel. A good specialist will be able to advise.

If you need a flywheel, make sure you are aware of the pros and cons of replacing the dual mass flywheel for a low mass one if you're thinking of deviating from factory standard.

Thanks for the replies all.

I have booked the car in for Saturday at Brooklands, Swanley.

On speaking to Barry he gave me full confidence in thier abilities and ive got the re-assurance that my car would be in good hands.

rpmtechniks are great.

Woohoo car is done, although not picked it up yet. They are dropping off to home tomorrow night.

Barry said it was the clutch plates that needed replacing and they've cleaned up the dmf and fully checked it out and it's not in need of replacement :)

Also checked the IMS and said it was all good-- woohoo!

Said that the car was in great condition underneath and well looked after- couldn't be happier

Wow, what a difference... The clutch is now so light and the car feels very different.

Back to its full potential again ;)
