Not sure your mileage is correct Stasis. IMS replaced in 2003 at 90k miles? Car purchased in 2008 with 71k miles?

Which dealer was that? I'd love to book my next service with them, assuming they paid for the rebuild!

Ha, it's not that simple i'm afraid. I'm not 100% on which dealer it was so don't want to name on a public forum without checking. basically, Porsche dealer seized engine, believe it or not, rang customer and said car was knackerd and was nothing to do with them. After an 18 month legal battle, the dealer was ordered to reimburse customer..... By the end of it all the customer had a pocket full of cash, a car with no engine and a box of stripped down engine bits..... (engine was stripped for court case to prove engine had seized due to lack of oil) Judge

Then it was off to Hartech...... Thumb

That is frickin' APPALLING.

The sheer gall of the dealer to lie about it to that extent... You wonder whether it was just the 17 year old trainee tech who forgot to put the oil in and lied about it - everyone else believed him. Surely not though... This has to go right up to the management?! Surprised

What did you replace it with because I was under the impression you couldn't get the original 1998 type dual row bearings any more?

FWIW I think some of the comments are disingenuous .

Firstly, there are 1000's of Porsche owners/drivers who know nothing about any technical aspect of their car and never will - they drive it, end of. The poll alex started was an attempt to put an enthusiast perspective on the numbers and frequency - nothing more, nothing less.

The quoting of 'class action disclosure' is useless at best since it's only referring to what Porsche in the USA fixed and we know what OPC's do when stuff is apparently broken - they swap it.

Some of you guys are painful - seriously.
