Can anyone help please.

What is the original design/material of a 911 (930) 1989 gear knob ?

I thought it was black plastic with plastic insert with no colour for gears ?

I have seen an original G50 gear knob for sale but this is Leather with black plastic insert.

Please help so I buy the orginal and correct gear knob for my car.

Best Regards,

Lee

Gear knob

Thanks !

Seems a lot of older Porsches have after market gear knobs as the originals are quite difficult to read the numbers.

Lee

Its leather and plastic cap on top. You can get your one repaired for around £25-£45
It depends on the colour of your car. My one is black with the plastic cap.
I got my one done a few years ago.

1989 gear lever knob

Just seen your post, so sorry this reply is a bit late but you have got the right answers.
I own a 1989 930 with the 5 speed box and is as "SEE YA" says ( he is a font of knowledge on the 930!).

Mine is stitched leather in burgundy to match the upholstery colour and has a black plastic cap and yes it is difficult to read the numbers as they are only embossed and not coloured in any way.
Not sure why you would necessarily want to read the numbers though, maybe to find reverse which on mine is up and off to the left. I do not like this positioning as I have found reverse on more than one occasion when trying to select first, puts the wind up the guy sitting behind you at the lights though.

Thanks for the kinds words :)
