Where to sell my 997

I bought a 2008 997 Gen 1 tiptronic a year ago from a OPC. I thought this would be the way forward as my intention was to change for a new vehicle in a year.

Received a shock yesterday when I was offered 33% less than I paid as a p/ex price. Base value was a shock, but then thought I was at webuyanycar when I was given the tick list of faults which knocked a further £4k off the price.

Anyway, whinge over. What's the best way to sell my 997? I sold my last car on eBay a year ago and it was pretty much a nightmare of scammers and dealers. I also spent a lot of £ bringing the car up to immaculate and it was wasted cash because the price was nailed anyway.

Any help welcome. I'm looking forward to getting something with a little more pep, but certainly won't be using OPC again.

Cheers
Joe

I can't work this out, is this mass produced car in depreciation shocker, or the price dealers buy trade-ins at is less than they then retail them at shocker?

Why not advertise here, PistonHeads, AutoTrader, eBay and any specialist magazine with free advertising?

Unfortunately, if you advertise anywhere public (which is surely the point), you get the nightmare of scammers and dealers.

Why not just add the last line to your copy:

No nightmare scammers or dealers please.

Always works for me :thumb:

No it's neither shocker, I'm not that daft. It's an expression of surprise at the amount of depreciation in one year.

Just the economic realities of cars and current global finances.

To be fair, if you took it back the next day you'd have got knocked for 15-20% straight off.

Not arguing with you, I think you are spot on. Won't go near a OPC again.

On the upside, it's my first Porsche and it's been a tremendous car. So I'm hooked, just a painful first lesson
