111 Point Check Disgrace!!!!!!!!

OPC Chiswick are laughable, at best! I wouldn't even let them touch the car now, especially after they put a dent in my door, marked up the interior and never fixed the reason it went there in the first place. AVOID!

The faults they missed didnt seem too specific to air cooled as opposed to later cars.

Just looks like a sloppy attitude by the "inspector"!!

Having said that, at least the faults they were found are not too serious, but I find it amazing that an OPC and my Kent based indy both missed my corroded brakes!

What a bunch of incompetent twats.

Doesn't surprise me though sadly, I don't think official Porsche dealers give a ***** about customers anyway.

They hate enthusiasts because they ask more questions, haggle over price and are more liable to pick up on crappy workmanship.

The only people they like are people who come in every 3 years and trade their porker in for another new one, and use them for servicing with no questions asked.

If Porsche OPC 'Parker and Parker' at Kendal are reading this - You are useless *****. You couldn't fix a cup of tea never mind a fault of a car.

Took a 2006 Boxster S in there and it took them several attempts to fix the headlight washers before presenting me with a large bill saying the car was a 'grey import' and therefore not covered by warranty!! I kicked off and they phoned Porsche HQ and found the car was a UK car supplied by Chester. They refused to apologise.

They then missed the fact that all the coil packs were spilt whilst they were supposed to be changing the plugs, resulting in the car breaking down 3 hours from home.

They then repeatedly failed to find the fault causing the ABS light and brake sensor to be on all the time... Then the warranty ran out.

Took it to indy Tom Ferguson Engineering in Newcastle and he diagnosed the fault in 20 mins and charged £60 to fix it.

*****.

Most main car dealers are like this too.Nice as pie until they realise you have half a brain in your head.

It's because OPCs can be such crap that there's so many good indies.

A big part of the problem is that the workshops are mainly staffed by fitters, not mechanics. Gone are the days when a good grease monkey would find a problem and engineer the fix. Now they have to replace component(s) as there's huge mark up on spares. If the diagnostic PC shows a fault then that part is replaced, when in many cases it could be repaired. Problem with the 111 check is when the PC doesn't see the fault.

All of the above based on comments made recently by a good trustworthy mechanic who's about to retire from an OPCbecause he's not allowed to do the job his way...

I've asked my closest OPC for a price for servicing 3 times now with no response! Thanks for this thread fellas! I think I'll just go with an indy! :dont know:

111 CHECKS

Hi We use Ray and the guys at Northway and we have got to say we have been really impressed by thier thorough approach to servicing our car for the last 7 years. I would use an independant specialist to check if buying, someone who knows these cars and cares about the service they offer.
Colin and Elizabeth, Cornwall

It is not just Porsche or OPCs. Prior to purchase I spent £500 (long story, I knew I was being shafted but had no real choice!) for a full inspection at a respected independent including a leakdown test for completeness. All was excellent short of a small oil leak and a duff fog light.

Fast forward 2 weeks to when I take possession and there is a great big rust bubble on the front scuttle panel. To my (amateur) mind, rot around the screen should have been pretty much the first check.

Moral of the story is that all these checks are subjective and prone to error. If at all possible, get any inspection done by someone you know personally.
