Collected my 997.1 GT3 today!

I would say depends on what your long term goals are. My plan is to only keep the car for about 12-18 months then trade up again at OPC and continue doing so. So makes sense for me to keep up the OPC stamps. If you're thinking of keeping the same car longer term then maybe more cost effective to go for a specialist. Just my view though...

It's likely to be a keeper, but then again so was the last one ('05 997 C2S), and like you I went to Hatfield for something minor, to enquire about satnv and one or two other things, and whilst there saw what I now have and just had to buy it. SWMBO fell in love with the red seat belts! (They're definitely from Venus).
So I guess it may be prudent to keep in the network for the time being.

JZM can be a bit of a treasure trove from time to time. Interesting mix of cars often to be found there - seems as though some folks prefer to use JZM for servicing even when new/ under OPC warranty.

I have found them to be extremely honest when it comes to service time. They aren't cheap. But I'll likely stick with them.

Cheers! I think GT3's look good in most colours, but black, white and red probably look best I reckon.

I was driving around last night and it started bucketing down with rain. That was fun. Rain + semi slicks + 400BHP = :what:

After 1 week I am now used to that constant scrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-unch sound as I do the splitter over everything... I'm off to search the forum on how to smooth out the scraped bits under the splitter.

....use some thinners on a cloth...rub it on the splitter...softens it, when
you finish, wash it down with water then apply some WD40....
I got a load of unsightly gravel rash on my first GT3, it looked 'orrible, the
thinners worked a treat !. :bye:

...just my remedy, but it does actually work.

Awesome. Will give that a go soon. Car goes in tomorrow to get new discs and pads fitted, so will try the thinners next weekend. While I'm at B&Q I'll scout around for some plastic boards to keep in the car to use as emergency ramps for driveways etc!

I'm still loving this car despite the inconvenience of the low splitter. The acceleration (and noise!) is addictive!

Collected the GT3 today having had the new discs and pads fitted by Hatfield, FOC, given the state of the discs and pads the car had when I bought it almost two weeks ago. Car was washed and vacuumed too, must say I'm very impressed with the overall service from Hatfield, top marks.

In case anyone is interested, it turns out that strange noise I was hearing is normal! Went for (another) drive this time with the head technician and he explained that it was transmission noise, nothing to worry about, and that these engines and gearboxes are very noisy and 'chatty' in general. It put my mind to rest. Now I just need to focus on driving the car

What a nice GT3

hmmmm noisy and chatty G50's eh.....never ever heard that one before but OPC's can call it what they like. Have the LSD carefully checked(that's what I'd be looking at), as Porsche factory LSD's can chuck it at just 10k miles!

Also if an LSD was fitted badly at the factory and the ring gear was accidently knocked against the pinion head, a minor whine(although not a mechanical/failure issue) can be present/just about be heard.

Chances are that all is well but once you focus on something it will bug you until you know what it is.

Hi

Nice car and congratulations.

I have a basalt black 997 GT3 in with us at the moment.

Love these cars!

So I finally got round to getting a second opinion from a different OPC this morning, about the rattle, and also a bit of clutch judder in reverse that ive noticed. Apparently all normal and nothing to worry about. Puts my mind at rest, everything I've read and heard about these cars seems to say that these cars are very quirky and have lots of noises and whatnot.

Awesome car. I love it. With hindsight really glad i didnt go for a GTS. One month on and still really enjoying it 8)

It's started... I've had the car about a month and I'm thinking about tinkering - black wheels with a red rim to match the red brakes and red seat belts. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Or what about just plain all-black wheels? I think that might look better?

Black with red rims do look good.Seen a few... If you like it go for it !
Try it on the configurator.

I was looking at the wheels this morning and I'm not sure the red lip will work :nooo:

The design of these wheels is such that there isn't a clearly defined lip running around the edge of the rim that can be painted (i.e. as seen on the GTS). The spokey bits on the triangle parts protude a bit in to the lip area.

Back to the drawing board... Although I have just found this all-black GT3 that looks BADASS

I think plain black would work best on these wheels :?:
