This may be a silly question.
Did anyone use Kwik Fit for 997 C4S wheel alignment. did they do a good job? What the difference between them and OPC in doing wheel alignment ?
Under no circumstances ever use a local 'garage' - or even worse, tyre fitter - to align the wheels. You're not driving a 1970's Austin Allegro FFS!
The Porsche needs all 4 wheels aligning together as the front and rear axles rely on each other to provide 'datums' from which the other end of the car is aligned. The wheels also have to be adjusted for both camber and toe. It is VERY important to note that changing one will change the other. Have your toe-in changed at QuickF**ckup (or whatever they're called) and your cambers will be all over the place. Dangerous.
The absolute best place in the UK to do proper alignments on any Porsche is Center Gravity near Tamworth. Chris Franklin is the acknowledged master at setting the cars up to do exactly what you want of them. He's an absolute perfectionist (not to mention a really nice guy) with an attention to detail that makes simply 'obsessive' seem negligent!
What will you get for your £££s? Firstly your suspension will be checked in minute detail for worn or faulty components and you will be advised what's required to bring it back to peak condition. (Doing a geo on worn suspension simply doesn't work as it won't keep its settings). Secondly, Chris will ask you about your driving style/ability and will then put a setup on the car that works with how you drive. After a lengthy test drive over a course designed to test the operation of the suspension in various different situations, the setup will be modified again if you feel that it needs it.
You'll come away from CG with a car that's totally planted, responsive and works with your driving style to put a huge grin on your face!
No OPC will do this as they're constrained to use standard factory settings. These are mostly very benign and 'understeery' on most modern Porsches - something Chris can easily dial out.
Finally, if you want something more than the standard suspension can offer, CG can supply and fit all kinds of upgrades. Coilovers, strut tops, dog bones, adjustable anti-roll bars, camber plates etc. etc.
You'll wait a few weeks for an appointment but it would be folly to go elsewhere.
Plase note that I have no affiliation with CG - I've just had several fantastic setups done by the best in the business.
