Click-click-click! There are some new shots fired by the successor of the Porsche 997. The internal name is, contrary to expectations, not 998, 991 only. The pictures are almost the new headlight and taillight units of the 911 coupe to recognize.

Now that the RS GT2, the Turbo S and the hybrid revealed, is the current facelifted 997 series pretty much complete. And traditionally it is high time for a successor.

Now seems clear that this series of '991 'will be called and that the car next year (Frankfurt probably) the public will see light of day. Until then we will gradually spyshots by three hundred and teasers acquainted with the appearance of the new 911. Who will undoubtedly back stronger, lighter and sweeter be.

Don't know if anyone has seen the following images from World car Fans (Am I allowed to post that on here?). Looks very nice imo.

I cant help thinking its looking very much 993 inspired just bigger.

I just wish they would get rid of the horrid Boxster style side scoops and put in something organic shaped like they did with the 993.

I'm sad they said they are making it longer and wider.

They should take dimensional inspiration from the 993 also.

At this rate I will have a Cayman (which will be 997 sized) in a few years time.

Not entitirely topical, so less likely to be real (unless they were a very early leak):

I'll repeat what I said back then, with the wind-spreading PanAm Turbi design it seems overly complicated and over-engineered.

What is wrong with the current (and legacy) systems which raise the entire engine lid vent area.

The current version has the advantage of being bigger, simpler (probably more robust) and puts both the engine cooling and air intake vents in the the air stream aswell.

The last bit is very useful on rear-engined 911s (if not absolutely necessary at speed) and yet is totally irrelevant to a front engined PanAm on which this "vision" is based.
