MAINTENANCE PLAN

This is a Maintenance Plan which is paid monthly to avoid large unexpected repair and service bills, even on wear and tear items such as brakes, clutches, water pumps, alternator belts, window regulators and much more.

Have you ever had an after market warranty policy that you tried to claim on only to find the claim was rejected on the basis that the failure had been caused due to wear and tear?

Sports & Classic have been dealing with these types of warranty companies for a number of years now and the wear and tear exclusion clause is being used all too often.

Think about how these companies work, they do not even want a garage to inspect the vehicle or do a health check on the vehicle before the cover begins, they have a lot of outlay such as staff, offices, telephones, engineer reports and advertising before they even look at your problem all for around £400 to £600+ a year.

We have decided to start our own Maintenance Plan for many reasons, including but not limited to the increased motoring costs and the fact that the only warranty we feel adequately covers most items is the official Porsche warranty, which has recently had a price increase to roughly £1400 a year. To add to this expense you can now only get the car serviced and repaired in the Porsche dealer network.

This equates to roughly £1400 warranty and £500 servicing costs, that's £1900 a year on average with no wear and tear items such as clutches or brake pads included.

We have created an alternative which may suit owners who do not want to be paying inflated warranty prices, but want a level of protection should the worst happen, the Sports & Classic Maintenance Plan offers just that.

IN THE INTERESTS OF CLARITY THIS IS NOT AN Insurance OR BREAKDOWN WARRANTY POLICY

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR PLAN?

The materials and labour for all scheduled servicing for one year are included in the Maintenance Plan. Any parts of the vehicle found to be faulty will be charged to you but the labour and any consumables for your annual servicing are covered by the Maintenance Plan including all oils, spark plugs, air filters, wiper blades, oil filters, fuel filters, cam belts and more.

All labour charges associated with any repairs to the vehicle during the period of the Maintenance Plan are covered, you will only pay for the parts of the vehicle required to repair any faults during the period of the Maintenance Plan.

Any air-conditioning gas that is required for an air-conditioning repair will also be covered by the Maintenance Plan (a saving of £60 plus VAT).

Finally you will be entitled to an annual MOT for your car.

BENEFITS

- No age limit on vehicle being accepted.
- No limit on vehicle mileage.
- Payment plan spread over 12 equal monthly payments.
- Priority booking and no waiting for engineers report to authorise repairs.
- The Maintenance Plan is transferrable when you sell the car (as long as it does not pass through a motor trader).
- 12 month warranty on any parts fitted to your vehicle under the Maintenance Plan.
- Courtesy cars available (subject to availability).

EXCLUSIONS

- Water ingress and associated damage to parts of the vehicle such as electrical equipment, interior trim panels and carpets.
- Any repairs required to the vehicle due to competitive motor sport, competition, misuse, over rev, corrosion, track, race, dynamometer and rolling road use or testing.
- Upgraded or performance parts fitted by any other supplier other than Sports & Classic (unless specifically approved by Sports & Classic).
- Any work sub-contracted to third parties such as internal automatic gearbox repairs, complex machining processes and the programming of electrical control units or keys.
- Any repairs required due to incorrect battery charging or connection of the battery polarity incorrectly.
- Any recovery costs for the vehicle or other personal costs whilst car is being repaired.
- Anything that is not deemed by Sports & Classic to be acceptable to the vehicle having regard to its age and mileage (as sometimes problems have to progress to be accurately diagnosed and repaired).

HOW DO I TAKE OUT THE PLAN?

The vehicle must have full service history, if no service history is available then the vehicle will require a major service carried out by Sports & Classic at our highly competitive rates, at your expense.

The vehicle must have an inspection carried out at our workshop to ensure there are no pre-existing problems at a fixed fee of £150 plus VAT, however, if a major service is being carried out then there will be no additional charge for the inspection.

If the next service for the vehicle is due within 3000 miles or three months then the car must be serviced before being admitted to the Maintenance Plan, at your expense.

Payment for the Maintenance Plan is via direct debit to Sports & Classic on the 1st of every month, with a twelve-month minimum contract, after 12 months continuation on the plan is effected by simply maintaining payments. Cancellation of the plan can be effected by cancelling the payments at any time after the minimum contract period.

Lifetime Maintanence Plan

Now my OPC warrenty is about to run out I'm thinking of using a Maintanence Plan, Like the one's offerred by Hartech or Sports and classic. Who on here uses these schemes, and how are you finding them :?:

Both mtce plans look good value to me concidering my last OPC services cost over £1k.
S&C are the closest out of the 2 to me so good to have a positive feed back. Just amazed there doesn't appear to be more poeple on this forum using this type of plan. Or am I missing something :?
 
My girlfriend's 996 Carrera is on the S & C plan and it works well. It was on cover with the previous owner and we have continued with it. So far in about 4 months it's had:
1) a service
2) an MOT
3) full gearbox rebuild (noisy diff plus usual jumping out of scond gear problem - something which other specialists send S & C gearboxes for)
4) a brake pipe replacement (which would have been expensive labour wise but was much more easily done when the 'box was out all of which was labour free)
5) replacement number plate light unit

Total cost was just £300+VAT of monthly payments (£75/month) plus parts costs for non-service items.

They also have BMW courtesy cars free of charge.

It's fair to say we've been very pleased with running the car this way and would highly recommend it. :)

I've often browsed this forum but never felt the need to post until now.

I bought a 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo last May and right away started to look at Warranty options. I spent so much time looking into Warranties that in June my Cardan Drive-Shaft bearing needed replacing. Anyway, I looked into buying a replacement Cardan Drive-Shaft and the cheapest option happended to be around £650 fitted.

I managed to find a reputable company in Northwich that reconditioned Drive-Shafts and built them to a higher spec than factory, it would cost me £140 for the service. However the problem I had was that I could not remove the Drive-Shaft without ramps, and removing it on a ramp would have the Cayenne stuck there on the ramps until the Drive-Shaft had been reconditioned.

I had heard many good things about Hartech and S&C (mainly from PistonHeads) and rang Mike from S&C. Also, Mike was very familiar with the Cayenne, Hartech were not and actually recommended Mike to me. I told Mike about my problem and he suggested that I pop in and take one of his damaged Drive-Shafts to recondition, and simply give him my old Drive-Shaft to him once the reconditoned one was on my Cayenne.

I thought it was an incredibly good gesture from him since I was not a customer, and he did not know me. Mike saved me £500, I was very grateful.

When I first visited Mike at S&C to pick up the Drive-Shaft I was impressed by his garage and workshop, very professional. He had all kinds of exotic cars in there, but obviously more Porsches than anything else.

I knew S&C was one of the few that did a Warranty plan for the Cayenne (most wont touch them due to reliability rumours) as I had done my research like I said.

These things made my decision to go with the Maintenance plan with S&C as I thought if they look after me this well when Im not a customer then they will surely look after me once I join the plan. I was not wrong either, the Cayenne went into S&C for a major Service in October and I asked Mike to fix some problems, potential problems and put the vehicle on his Maintenance Plan. I estimated what the cost would be but it was less than I had budgeted for, again Mike had saved me some money.

Mike has been very good to me, he understands Porsches very well and knows how to treat his customers.

I cannot recommend him enough and urge you to pay him a visit to see for yourself.

Any plans like these being offered in the south east? There as to be a gap in the market - time for Parr, Northway or the likes to get one :dont know:

+1 for Mike @ Sports and Classic.

Top guy. Had my major service done there recently and put the car on his maintenance plan. Extremely knowledgeable, fair, well priced and very polite.

Definitely worth the trek from London and is kind enough to pick you up from the station.

I've asked him many questions since my service (upgrades) and have received thorough professional answers.

He's the kind of guy you can trust to just do the right thing. Takes the worry out of owning a 911 Turbo!
 
I should also mention Mike got into work at 07:00 for me. That's customer service!

Well after all the good words said about S&C and them being the closest to me, I've booked the car in for it's inspection on the 16th Jan. :)

Would still be intrested in hearing from any one that has the Hartech plan :?:
 
Another +1 for S&C

Thought I'd add another one to the list of recommendations for Mike at S&C.

My 996C4S is covered under the S&C plan, and I took this out just after I bought it in April. Since then I've only had to call on it once, to replace a battery that died, but the peace of mind and the value of the plan is well worth it. It'll need a service and MOT in April, so I'll be back to Knutsford then...

My experience with OPCs and Porsche GB has been horrible, but Mike offers a fantastic service. Nothing is too much trouble, he's always courteous and happy to chat about cars, and his knowledge is immense.

I've been very impressed so far, so we'll be using Mike to service our Cayenne from now on, and once the existing warranty has expired we'll have that on the S&C plan too.

I have a 2003 Cayenne Turbo on the S & C plan.

I have been on the S & C plan now for about a year during which time Mike has fixed the following:

New Propshaft
Front wheel bearing
Ignition Coils
Air Con flap controls
Coolant pipes under manifold which had cracked
2 Heater actuator motors
New Alternator
2 Aircon mixer units
battery replacement


He has also put an MOT on it and serviced it for me all with no labour charge only the cost of parts.

At nearly £900 for the year it has saved me an absolute fortune.

I cannot speak highly enough about Mike and the service that he provides.
For instance, when my coolant pipes cracked after an evening shopping he came and met me at his garage at 10pm so that my car would not be left out at night.

His plan is well worth the money and the level of service and technical expertise that he gives easily eclipses porsche main dealers.
