On a car without a Porsche warranty what are the benefits of having a service by OPC compared with an independent Porsche specialist except a stamp in the service book.Is it worth the money you save.

You might get a nice loaner (if that floats your boat). Warranteed work/parts, valet (or service wash with an oily chamois).

I know OPC Cambs are offereing a two or three course meal for two at a local hostelry with every service aswell!

Of course, assuming your quandary is based on price, you could just ask OPC to match (ok, you may have to ring one or two, but I bet you'll be surprised by how flexible they actually are). Finally, you could supply your own oil and save at least £100 to start with.

Try Matt Lewis Racing @ £55 for 10L (you only need 8.5)

Surely its a cost thing?

An indy could be just as good!
With an OPC, they have much bigger overheads etc..... and that has to come from somewhere - and its not new car sales!

I think I've found my place at indies - just not a fan of OPCs!

I'm going to continue having my 997 serviced at JZM. i'm hoping that anyone serious about buying a 911 will look them up on forums and discover they have a good rep, so i doubt not having a FPSH will affect my resale that much.

I use Paragon, partly because it's in my area, but also because they go racing which should not only improve their expertise but also shows how enthusiastic they are. (Usual disclaimers, etc).

OPC's offer their "technicians" bonuses for fast work (read shortcuts?), Indies offer their technicians a job! So many overheads at OPC's, and in my experience they are not as good. Obviously there are exceptions, but my experience with indy's really is far superior.

And who wants their car washed by some work experience boy.......

And don't get me started on how thorough (sic) the OPC 111 point check is!

Indy servicing

I am live in Stourbridge.
Has anyone used the Porsche Shop in Halesowen for a service?
Any other local suggestions?
The service is for a 40K on a 997, any guidance?
