Porsche Pre Inspection 111 point check - what is it?

Thanks for the advice Maxie, 111 back, slight RMS leak being only significant item apparently and being fixed.
Thanks for the advice given by Martin Reed at Barnstaple.

I'm having an OPC 111 point check as a pre purchase inspection on a 997 at the moment.

The car was serviced in October at the same OPC, its 2nd service.

Is it fair to expect a menu of things to do:

- due to not wanting to be liable
- them wanting work ?

And how would you recommend I navigate my way through the list so to speak ?

Thanks in advance :)

The fact it has recently been serviced is irrelevant as the 111 will be looking for things not touched by the service I assume?
If it highlights work needing to be done, don't concern yourself too much, get the seller to put it right, at this point you haven't bought the car?

There is no point in getting a PPI then ignoring it or making a judgement as to whether something is important. If you are suspicious of the dealer just looking for work then an indie PPI might have been a better bet.

Hi, thanks Jamie.

RMS being done as a result of 111 point check, and they have replaced a "slightly heavy" clutch at the same time.

Picking it up on friday :)

Good buy Cornwallnewbie! Sorry I missed your earlier posts. Please put up some pictures of her when you collect this Friday.

997

Hi, picked up the car yesterday and drove it home to Cornwall.

So far absolutely delighted, it is one of the early 997 C2 "S", late 2004. Has done just over 22,000 miles and has just had 2nd service.

Seal grey, very dark blue leather interior, 19 inch wheels as usual, Bose sound system, no park assist and no satnav.

Very comfortable drive down, but didn't feel the need to go fast when on the motorway as it seemed quite noisy enough with tyre roar etc.
After gingerly picking my way along at a snails pace though the hail this morning , I went out at lunchtime on some of the windy roads down here which was great.

Thanks for the tips and help from other members. :)

Edited - better photos not taken with a phone this time

FYI if you need them you can retrofit both sat nav (expensive) and rear parking sensors (not original Porsche but look good).

Thanks.

Have you seen the parking sensors advertised in www.porscheshop.co.uk which stick behind the bumper so you don't need to alter the exterior looks ? Sounds almost too good to be true.
Has anyone had any experience of them? :?:

997 Engine Failure & 111 Point Check

Ok...wont bore you all again with my engine failure after 30,000 miles on my 997S

What was interesting was I asked for a 111 point inpection as was planning on paying for this if they gave me a good deal (bearing in mind the engine is covered for 2 years). They didnt so stuff em

Well...it needed NOTHING DOING...was a "great car" & "very unusually" to find one that needs nothing doing to it" was service centers words

Makes me even more made then at the engine failure. They again told me that there was nothing I could have done to prevent this. Interestingly enough...while I have been speaking to this OPC...at least 3 engines have been replaced on 997 cars in one dealership alone...and UK has no stok of engines left...urmmmm?????

Also...in the OPC were 3 "people".....one customer, myself...and one other spitting chips at the way he was being treated

Me & Porsche are now officially divorced....

I'm no legal expert but that sounds suspiciously like a 'latent' defect and if so I would thought you would have a case ... admittedly I don't know what the fault was

Interesting article....

Good find there

However, let's say Porsche decided to go along with this idea and offered to replace any M96 engines that failed due to IMS or cracked cylinder liners for say £3,000 guaranteed fixed price.

How many of you would still pay £1350 per annum (plus any costs arising from the 111-point cheque) every year? :?:

So Porsche lose both ways... half price engines and loss of warranty revenue... Can't see that happening, can you :hand:

Let's face it, only a tiny, tiny proportion of NEW Porsche buyers ever keep them beyond warranty expiry, so these issues don't appear to affect them financially (as I doubt very many make the link between residual value and problems with 2nd, 3rd, or 4th owner used cars).

In fact I've decided to run a new poll on this subject...

Has anyone on here tried making a claim against Porsche through the small claims court? That way the problems would definetly be in the public arena and you know they would love the publicity :nooo:

111 point check

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend someone (hopefully not too far from me in NW Kent) who can carry out the equivalent of the OPC 11 point check?

I want to put a porsche warranty on my car but would rather have the check and any necessary work done by a specialist before the car visits an OPC.

Thanks very much. I realise this will mean paying for the check at Porsche but, if any work needs doing I expect the savings to outweigh the costs.

Happy Easter

Mark

1) Parr, Crawley West Sussex do pre-purchase inspection (£200 plus VAT) - they maintain my car and have always found them to be nothing less than thorough (have never used them for pre-purchase inspection) T: 01293 537911

2) La Rose Porsche (affiliated to Paul Devyea), Kemsing Kent - think they also do pre-purchase inspections but don't know anyone who has used them

3) Paragon, Five Ashes East Sussex - I'm guessing they would also do pre-purchase inspection and always seem to hear good things about them but again don't know anyone who has used them
