SWITCH OFF THE CHARGER then Attach leads to battery in car

MAKE SURE THE AREA IS WELL VENTILATED AND LOOK AWAY FROM THE BATTERY AS THE CLIP IS ATTACHED

An alternative position for the earth crocodile on the suspension tower so a spark is less likely to explode the battery gas

REPLACE THE + TERMINAL COVER FOR SAFETY

Thread the cable to the lower corner of the bonnet

SWITCH ON THE CHARGER
THEN PRESS THE MODE SWITCH Twice TO ILLUMINATE THE CAR SYMBOL

For best results LEAVE IT ON UNTIL THE Charger Unit shows fully charged

I should also add at this point that I have had a CTEK charger for two and a half years - its great - does what you would expect and I use it both to charge up a spare battery (and maintain it) and for booster charges to the Bosche Silver fitted in my 993.

Highly recommended in my opinion.

Well done stevo

The CTEK 3600 is great for outdoors.

As i lack a garage, i have constructed a light weight polycarbonate chassis to house the charger which i feed from the mains through the double glazing window which also shuts cleanly as the wire is quite thin and waterproof.

Wrap the whole thing in 3M duck tape and bobs your uncle.

No RAC from now on.

Just about to get a Battery charger (as a belated Xmas present to me), have read the Vertar website but can't really see what the difference is between the Ctek XS 800 and XS3600.

Will only be used on the 996.

Can anyone explain what you get for the extra £20?

Cheers.

I've ordered the 800 now - hopefully not a big mistake. Won't need to be used all the tim.

What is the difference between CTEK800 & 3600?
Answer :
The 3600 is a charger & conditioner so it will charge a flat / slightly sulphated battery to 14.4 volts and then switch into conditioning mode to maintain the charge level. The 800 will not charge a flat battery, it is designed to keep a good battery in good condition, there needs to be 8 volts in the battery for the CTEK 800 to work. It then charges to 14.4v when it will turn off and monitor the voltage.

Cheers Alan - I only needed to condition the battery, so looks like I made the right choice. Have it charging at the moment.

No problem So Poo, you are welcome.

If anyone else is looking for a CTEK XS3600, they are least expensive on Ebay at the moment, just bought one myself.

Al.

Hi,

Just purchased a new CTEK 3600.

When I connect it up, plug it in and select the mode, the "charging" light flashes and the "charged" light is solid green. The "warning" light remains unlit.

I can't find any explanation in the Manual of what this combination of lights means, ie. flashing charging light and solid green charged light.

Needless to say, the battery is not getting charged. And I'm sure the battery is not bad, just flat.

If anyone could shed any light on this it would be appreciated.

Thanks

PS. Which mode is best for an AGM (Federal brand) battery? The snowflake mode?
