Does anyone have a definitive list of what this is supposed to cover? It could be useful for people, who are buying from OPCs, for themselves to check off and ensure that such a check has been throughly completed. I was a little bit disappointed to learn one member bought a car from an OPC but wasn't registering any oil in the engine! That and the fact his tyres were less than the 3mm (?) standard tread depth that would allow new tyres to be fitted. If anyone has a copy of this, please would they post up a pdf or a linky for us to print off?

I have done several searches on the forums but have failed to find a definitive list of the points covered in the 111 Point Check.

Can someone point me in the right direction (excuse the pun) or post a link.

Thanks :thumb:

This is Porsche NA list, but almost identical to Porsche GB

(note: sub 4 mm IS new tyres and obviously these HAVE to be replaced in pairs on an axle at the minimum)

This post below has examples of the PPI document

It covers the following (briefly)

-Vehicle Documents (service history/manual/maintenence)
- Fluid Levels
- Functions (interior/exterior) covers- starter, ignition, horn, wiper, OBC, headlight/washer, window stereo (limited check), steering, spoiler, compartment (boot/engine) release, door hinges etc..
Tyres Wheels
-Exterior/Under vehicle - covers, glass, exhaust, bearing, radiator, engine mounting etc.
Engine Compartment- Alternator, belts, battery etc
Interior - cushion, arm rest, instrument cluster, trim, glovebox, ashtray, cupholder etc.
Road test- steeting, brakes, power steeting, handling, clutch, pcm, idling, 4wd/awd, and also check for recall and read out faults...

I dont have a scanner nearby, otherwise would of scanned the sheet for you.

Cheers.

Thanks for that, it is very helpful. I had the feeling that the 80/20 rule applied here, whereby 80% of what is checked is "routine" stuff and 20% is critical, and it is this proportion that buys the peace of mind.

The reason for my original post was to do a refresher on my car, just to keep everything in good order between major services. :thumb:

111 Point Warranty Check

Hello

Couldnt find a way to search the forums so hope this hasnt been posted before. If my service history isnt entirely Porsche can i still get them to do the 111 point check to qualify for a warranty?

In short - Yes (subjecting to it passing the 111pt inspection).

If the car is less then 9 years old that is.

Yes no probs, as long as the car is less than 9 years old and has less than 125000 miles at te time of the test. The 111 point check will cost £220 and you have to take the warranty out within 24 hours of the test.

I recently did this.

Steve

Thanks guys

Is this hard to get? The car is in great condition, i'm trying to sell it and the buyer insists on having this done before he commits. He is willing to pay etc.

Looking at the economics of warranties (i.e. Porsche having to pay out) i would suspect that they make these things as hard as possible to pass. Is there a list of things they check?

They do 111 point check
A: Vehicle Data
B: Vehicle documentation
C: Vehicle exterior: 1 - 11
D: Tyres: 12 -18
E: Drive System/Underbody: 19 -34
F Engine Compartment: 35-42
G: Fluids (fill levels etc): 43 - 52
H: Interior: 53-88
I: Test Drive: 89 - 111

To my knowledge you have to repair everything they find wrong to get the warranty

Costs differ dependant on which dealership you use, I've seen from as low as £175.00 up to £300.00

Do i need independant inspection if Porsche 111 & warran

Hi All,

I'm now looking to buy my first Porsche, 996 C4S, 54 Reg (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/701269.htm) I've been to drive and look at the car which looks in perfect condition.

The dealer (Deca Leasing LTD) has had a Porsche 111 point inspection, and 12 Month Porsche Warranty put on to the car.

In your opinion is there any need for me to get a separate indpendant inspection or should this, along with an HPI check, and call to the dealers who serviced it be sufficient?

Any advice on the best approach, or experience of Nevill @ Deca Leasing would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

I'm not sure the balance of warranty can be transferred to the new owner on a trade / independent dealer sale?? That only works on private sale.

As for PPI, I've not heard of Deca as a Porsche Specialist so might be worth a PPI for a proper mechanical inspection, especially if the warranty doesn't stack up..

111 point check as a pre purchase inspection - advice

I'm having an OPC 111 point check as a pre purchase inspection on a 997 at the moment.

The car was serviced in October at the same OPC, its 2nd service.

Is it fair to expect a menu of things to do:

- due to not wanting to be liable
- them wanting work ?

And how would you recommend I navigate my way through the list so to speak ?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Cornwallnewbie. Your question depends very much on the OPC concerned. Have you checked the recent OPC polls and winners contained within this forum? You should be able to see who are the most popular OPCs to take your car to; the ones not mentioned on there are the ones we enthusiasts on this forum have decided to pretty much abandon. Ditto the indies (have you tried the well-regarded Stirlings in Cornwall? At guess you are not far away  ).

Whilst doing the 111 is one thing, passing the 111 is another. If there are things that need doing, then you are most probably advised to go and have them seen to. Whether you get these done at an OPC or Indie is your choice. Almost all OPCs will not want to be liable but I guess this will be contained in the small print when they hand back the inspectoion list to you where they state they have recommended you to have certain works done.

Some, if not the majority, of the OPCs will always want work anyway, especially now in the current times which is why you would be well advised to check the poll ratings and see who's honest and competent about their work.

It's Sheffield OPC, which looks like it is owned by the same company that owns the Leeds one that doesn't have a great reputation ..oops.
