The dash strips are easy to change - honest. Infact I changed mine twice as I only found out I was supplied a LH set when it was too late !

Have you found an easy way then? the diy guides I've read make it sound hellishly difficult.

I removed mine with the steering at straight ahead - there was more than enough room for me to get to the securing bolts with the Torx bit and my ratchet - depends on the tools you use I guess?

Just have to work out how to fit the black dash strips now.

Now that is much harder than it should be and having read ahow to I wouldnt fancy trying it myself...

can of spray paint ?

There is specialised trim paint on the market which you can be made to any colour you want. Being specifically for trim it sticks properly and doesn't chip or flake off.

Might be a cost effective option here - just remove your original strips, paint and replace.

Let me know if anyone wants more info as I'll have to dig out the details (I have it somewhere!)

The issue with changing trim strips is the difficulty removing and replaciing them, not the cost of replacement or Ally ones (about £50.00)

For instance the long strip is held on by 7 (yes 7) torx nuts on the back and they are supposedly an absolute pig to get at and off

With the right tools and a little help from Gary Barlow in the background, I found the job fairly straight forward.

On the drivers side I removed the side vent, both the horseshoe trim around the steering column and horseshoe trim around the heater controls and clicked off a heater duct section above the pedals. Using a long flexible shaft screwdriver with a torx bit fitted (Halfrauds have them) I fed that up from the pedal area and used my fingers at the top to guide it onto the screws. The holes in the new trim help you to work out where the screws are located.

On the passenger side I dropped the glove box lid and top cover inside then layed on my back in the footwell to feed the screwdiver up onto the said 7 screws.

Is Gary Barlow good with a spanner then? (insert howard/robbie/mark/ken joke here)
