Today my GT2 went in far a service at the new Porsche dealership in bolton where i aftoo say the service provided was excellent and they did a really good job, The reason i am not happy is that the car had a major service last year at hatfield and also they put a new clutch on at the same time, too my astonishment when they did this work they never put back the undershield which is in three or four different sections. Now i bought the car 3 months after the car was serviced but i know nothing else was done to the car in that time but surely this is not very good and they will not accept responsibility and i have to pay £250.00 plus to replace the bits any advice ?

Not sure if it's the same dealer but have you seen this thread on PCGB forum?

"I recieved a call from a friend of mine on Thursday telling me my RS had been stolen and had just undertaken him round a roundabout. It had 2 people in it and was being driven like a t£$%$^r. Imagine my concern as the car was in for the engine wiring loom recall and 4 wheel alignment at the new Porsche main agent in Bolton. To add to the horror I use 15w 50 oil and the roundabout is c 1min from the dealership i.e the car would be cold. I immediately drove to the dealership and tackled them. Once the service manager deigned to come out of his office to speak to me, he said "he'd look into it". Following a little more straight talking he assured me that the car was warm as he knew they had the radiators out and so run it up to temp to bleed it. Not a good answer really unless my 993 is fairly unique.... At this point I got the dealer principle involved, who seemed to care even less (in a manner reflective of the overbearing arrogance Porsche seem to exude these days) and said he'd look into it.. I had to leave the car as it was back in bits to fix a small oil leak they'd found. I went in on Friday to check progress, no one updated me on the "looking into it", no one apologised any further nor has any suggestion of a discount been offered. I collect the car tomorrow and will be really upset if I have to pay in a way that will include writing to the local press, Porsche AG and every forum I can find together with the dozen or so friends who own Porsches from the dealer. A lesson to us all the in addition to main agents caring about older Porsches like a piece of dirt on their shoe they also joyride your car for you. Thing is whilst we like 993s and think they are quick imagine how tempting a 997 turbo is to the in-house joyrider!! Beware, and keep out of Porsche Bolton at all costs lest your own car overtakes you. I'll let you know the outcome after I kick off again tomorrow. "

"Update Collected the car today from Bolton. Dave Brown, who is a service advisor ex Stratstone, is everso helpful and pleasant, looked after me. The service manger then had a chat and said sorry and they have offered to waive the bill or do a free service when due. Clearly I am still upset but they were sincere, have looked into it and as a result I will use them again. To be fair they have also clearly spent plenty of time on the setup as the settings are within a minute or two each side and sorted one or two other small issues. That gives me confidence they do know what they are doing, not least because the car was serviced by a specialist a few weeks ago and some of the things should have been picked up. If nothing else lightening can't strike twice..can it! So whilst the joyride was bad it is only fair to report the good bit today. "

Anyway, regarding the undershield, I think you'll have a bit of a job proving that it was them who left it out and not anybody else! Might want to contact Porsche GB to see if they hae anything to say.

"Might want to contact Porsche GB to see if they have anything to say".

Don't talk to me about POORsche GB, it's has taken them over a week to decide if they are going to replace the front water radiator on my GT2 under parts warranty - it was renewed in January of last year and has already sprang a leak. I had to submit photo's to the local OPC and now I'm being told that the POORsche GB warranty manager is away on holiday and they have to wait until he comes back before a decision can be made.

I agree. TBH, you're not the first one to say they are unhappy with OPC Hatfield. For cars such as the GT2/3/RS, I would always recommend taking the car to an independent specialist. OPCs get a little blase about Porsches, unlike independent specialists who have to work to earn their keep. Since Block Exemption came in, work undertaken by an independent specialist, as long as they use original Porsche parts, does not invalidate the Porsche warranty.

Sorry this isn't of more help given the situation, but do keep us posted. I would recommend lobbying Porsche Reading if Hatfield don't play ball(Reading, Hatfield, Mayfair and West London OPCs are owned by Porsche AG directly, unlike the other OPCs).

You'll be lucky if your radiator was replaced under warranty - there is no warranty on warranty work I'm afraid (with any manufacturer).

If your car is still under warranty it may be covered on that basis alone, but the only other way you would be covered is if you paid for the radiator yourself and it is still in parts warranty (which I doubt, over 12 months later).

I have been told that genuine Porsche parts fitted by an OPC come with a 2 year warranty - unless you know different?

I think this only applies if you actually pay for the work. Someone raised this question about an engine a few weeks ago. If you pay for the parts/engine then there is another contract and so you get the warranty, but as warranty work is done "free" (ha ha) and you don't get an invoice for the work then there is no warranty.

This is certainly how things work with electrical goods. Any warrany work carried out is not usually guaranteed.

9M in Warrington?

TBH, I'm not familiar with many indies up north who are specialists in the GT2. The likes of 9M/Ninemeister in Warrington tend to specialise more in the 993 and older cars. I've heard good things about Zentrum in Notts, although I have no direct experience with them.

If you're willing to travel a bit further south, the GT2/3/RS specialists are the likes of JZ Machtech in Herts. Weltmeister is also reputable and based at Silverstone. It may also be worth calling Fearnsport, a new company setup by Andy Fearns who is well respected in the tuning circles and has done a lot of work on the GT2/TT/3/RS.

Previous Rad replacement was paid for and not done as warranty. Will post when it gets done in late May as I have to go and do a bit of work in North Africa for B.P. - To pay the expected bill!
