Engine Busted

I wonder if i can find out the engine model number to see if it is a new 997 version?

Thanks Pete nice to know you are feeling the engine too. It sounds awesome and I've just got home from taking it out for an hour after work and I can say that I'm thoroughly enjoying it again.... mmmmmm

I will defo be putting a new warranty on when it's due and I think after this episode if nothing else ever goes wrong with the car again it will still be worth it. Especially since you get Europe wide recovery too.

Thanks for the info all.

PS Carl, I would never try to go over 190mph 8)

Don't agree with that, a new engine should have the same warranty.
It does - but the warranty is in the name of the person who paid for it... ie. Porsche!!!

You never get warranty on a warranty repair of any sort over and above the coverage of the warranty you paid for yourself.

A warranty is a promise to pay for any parts/work required, it is not a guarantee that they won't fail.

Also I forgot to mention that my car is on 20,000 miles or 2 years servicing even though it is a 996 type which I thought was unusual but checked it out with Porsche and got an official response from them.

Still find it amazing that these things fail... after 10 years of production !!! People say it's a minority BUT still same problem intemediate shaft ?? which I thought they'd solved..

great debate marcus... by the way if you ever need work doing other than opc stuff on your motor i found barry at river bank garage(bolton) who specialises in our type of stuff- very well informed and the right price.

Good luck Marcus, keep it purring.

You came out of it all quite unscathed.

Thanks Rich I'll try and have a flyby to see what they are like... Always good to hear from someone else who has used them... Cheers

Yeah totally scratch free Carl - thank heavens and it was quite pleasant, not to mention brandnew motor sitting there now.
