Thanks for the welcome :D

Yes, I will be at the RS day at Oulton in March. This is about the 4th year I have attended and always has a great selection of RS's, Gt3's and possibly a couple of CGT's this year!!!

Please feel free to have a chat if you see me about since Oulton is only a few miles from my home and therefore my local circuit.

I am also looking to campaign the RS in the full Pcgb "Speed Championship"(Sprint/Hillclimb) this year, so it looks like it could be a busy one.

Cheers

John

Nice to hear of an RS being used as it should. These cars are designed to be spirited around tracks and not kept as appreciating garage queens.

Good for you chap!

John, do you have to do much prep to the car to do those events?

Hi Mick,

In terms of actual modifications, then no, the car is pretty much standard, however I have Tech9 Motorsport,Hale, "Set up" the car which is crucial, if you are to be competitive.

I will also run upgraded brake pads and some "very sticky" rubber, since with sprinting, you need grip almost immediately and there is no time to get much heat into anything, unlike a trackday, where you can put in loads of laps.

Other than normal safety kit, ie. Cage, harnesses, extinguisher, the car is stock but can still hold its own against alot more powerful, modern machinery.

Most important thing for me is to use the car as it was intended, keep it in one piece and have lots of fun :)

Cheers

John
