Thanks for your input. Clearly a very immotive subject.

I will let you know how I get on.

It is weird the way different companies are good for different people!

Just goes to show you that the only option is to shop around and try everyone, and what's good for one of us, aint the always the same for anyone else.

It just a pain in the arse shopping around!

Give Peart or A Manning a call. They specialise in Porsche.

I'll second the recommendations for A Plan (I used Thatcham). Very competive quote.

Before I bought my 5yr old 996 I hadn't had a car, so no claims. Elephant quoted me £1950 (29yr old, parked in the street). The next best I could get was £3k so I went for it, but first added my mum as a named driver and that got it down to £1600 (and no, she is not allowed to drive it).

Elephant have just offered to renew it for £1600 (i.e. no benefit of 1yr no claims). I called Admiral (who own Elephant) and they offered me £800. Done, thank you.

If you're young, always put your mum on your policy as a named driver, just don't tell her you've done it.

Yep mine is the same way (except with my dad on it, mum has points on her licence). My Insurance is coming up next month and I turn 24 this month so hoping I’ll see a nice drop in my Insurance.

Also I’m going to give AON a ring when i spoke to them before they didn’t want to know me as I had the car under a year. Apparently you need to have owned it for at least a year before they will quote you. Also going to try A-plan

Paying £1400 with Lloyds TSB (garaged, 2000miles, tracker, etc)

26 year old, 4 years NCB, no accidents or convictions. After a long search (some wouldn't even offer cover), best quote was from Admiral. £1046 for a multi car policy which gives comprehensive cover on a '96 Porsche 993 Targa (5000 miles, leisure, garaged) and a '91 Golf Cabriolet (10000 miles, commuting, parked on driveway). Saved £73 by putting mother on policy.

AON didn't even bother to respond to me email!

So Poo - you should definitely try A Plan number and web given in previous messages above.

Have already renewed with Direct Line. Less that £1K with the wife on the policy (she is 25), full business use and loads of miles.
