thanks for all your support lads,
The latest is:-
Old clutch and flywheel I am told will probably last 20 - 30k more miles, however I will have a slightly heavy pedal because of the slight wear in it, and the flywheel has a slight high spot, however the judder this causes I have been living with quite happily for 8000miles trouble free.
The OPC quite happy to do this, and it has no bearing on the wtty for other parts. I was in a no win situation with the clutch as they did not have a flywheel in stock and it would have been a couple of days, and it is pointless replacing one with out the other at this low level of wear.
So if truth be told, if the RMS had not been leaking the chances are that the clutch wouldnt have been required till 40 - 50k miles anyway, so given the likleyhood that the RMS will go again, I will replace the clutch at that time and save myself £1250 in the meantime, as also if ithe RMS does go in 20 - 30k miles again and I had replaced the clutch I bet any money that I would have been asked to replace clutch and flywheel again, this does beg a big question mark???
With regards welding the exhaust, this cant be done at the OPC, because they have no welding equitment and would have to be booked in at a local welder/fabricator, silly IMHO as I had the car there for a week and a half.
The radiators well, no way they will be covered under wtty, because the small weeps in them, have been caused by debri collecting on the fins and rotting the fins slightly and letting water out, in small amounts. This is said to be either poor maintenance or wear and tear, personally I believe it to be a design fault, however there is no way I am paying £800 to have both radiators replaced when they lose so little water, I will just be very caerful, though I do realise that a large failure on their part could blow the engine, though very unlikley, and also I will be very vigilant in future. This weeping of water was prevalant when I purchased the car, at 14k miles and I made the OPC aware of it before the 111 point check, no problem I was told all is fine. Personally I think that there was a slight leak from very early in the cars life, and I think there is a serious design fault here, if debri can cause rotting of the fins and core.
With regards the exhaust, despite plenty of prior notice, they can not find one in the UK and have put it on back order, again very poor.
4 wheel alignment is being done today.
Compression test was OK.
No problem with diff whine.
Str lock barrell fault is intermitent, however when total failure occurs it will be covered under wtty.

I am to pick the car up at 5 pm tonight, hopefully sort of ready.
Am I happy NO, whom do I blame, mostly Porsche, re failure of parts so early in the cars life and being prepared to warrant them.
I have always had good service from Cardiff OPC previously and the service Manger Martin was on holliday when I booked the car in, he has always been helpful and honest with me, and I have no critisism of him personally, yes certain things could have been handled better, however I am living in the real world, and problems do occur, and I believe that the Workshop of the Cardiff OPC have experienced some difficult problems over the last week, so I will put that down to life.
How do I feel about the Porsche brand, I am ambivalent at this point, if I have the car back and the clutch flywheel lasts as I expect it to, then this is a lesson to all who have 911's, wear is natrual on the clutch flywheel and just changing it because the RMS is out could be false economy if there is plenty of life left in it, it would be a little like replacing the laces and soles on your 6 months old shoes, when you take them to the tanner because of a cut in the leather etc.
I will perservere with this car a while longer, as I dont believe a genuine allternative exisists, hence my previous post re two cars, point made.
With the growth of the internet I think that it will not take long for the seeds of doubt and mistrust in the Porsche brand to grow if these problems in manufacturing are not addressed, and most manufacturers are staffed by petrol heads, it shouldnt take long for someone at Nissan/Toyota/Audi to realise that the holy grail of sportscars, is a 2+2 with a 0 -60 of sub 5 seconds, a top speed of 175mph+ and a 0 - 100 of sub 11 seconds, if they can combine that in a good looking coupe, reliability and a good equitment level for a price of around £50k, and distance it from their main brands then I think the 911 days could be numbered.
But for Porsche it is not to late to let a little profit go, and reward all the purists and owners who have shown such loyalti to the brand.
I will let you know how I get on later.
