Battery Question

have you actually replaced the battery yet?..........or are you constantly charging the existing one??.....how old is it??

Taking Rodders point above, if its a three or 4 year old battery which has repeatably been drained flat and recharged it is almost certain to be trashed.
If charging over a long period like 24 hours does not make it fully charged then get a new one - about 60 to 70 quid for a Bosche Silver - Dont pay the silly Porsche prices its simply a waste of money.

having the same problems myself where batteries are concerned, exacerbated by getting a jump start from the friends we'd stayed with this weekend on the forecourt of Tesco in feltham this morning... highly embarassing but also lucky they went shopping after we left them....

however i dropped into RSJ sports on friday (Andy Duncan, incredibly nice man, very helpful and friendly, can fully recommend them) and he topped up the de-ionised water level in my battery which were very low so it might be worth trying that too. He was adamant that the majority of batteries can be saved before replacement is strictly necessary, he also advised to unplug the -ve during the week if its not being used (but as someone pointed out remember to put the key in the ignition before re-connecting..)

hope that helps

and for anyone thats remotely interested, following the top up of fluids and re-conditioning with a CTEK trickle charger the battery was showing signs of recovery yesterday with no excessive draining fault showing on the charger so it may have done the trick.

And i don't claim to be an expert but i'm sure RSJ said batteries won;t be fully charged by a drive, you need a charger to do that, especially if its an older opne (apologies if i misheard or misquoted and i hope someone with more specialist knowledge will put me right if that is the case)
