Congratulations Walt! Happy days...
Anyway, my suggestion is this- get a rear facing seat and place in the front seat. I would be surprised if you can find a rear facing seat which fits in the back seat of a 993 but I may stand corrected.
Speak to your local OPC (or indeed specialist) who can install a gadget which fits under the front seat and disables the airbag when a child seat is fitted. It isn't particularly expensive.
Once nipper gets older, there are a few forward facing seats which fit in the back- you will need to fit an extended rear seat belt which is easy.
Cabrio might muddy the water a bit as the rear seats are slightly different compared to the coupe IIRC.
Also worth speaking to Quick Fit SBS who have some expertise in recommending kiddy seats for 911s... website is under construction currently.

Worth persevering as 911s are great family cars!
