Headlight washers?!?!?!?

Stupid question from me again but does anybody know if the headlight washer spray should work all the time or only when the headlights are on?

Mind did work all the time until I got my car back from it's service and now the spray only works when the lights are on :?

same here.............and with every other motor i've had that has them fitted

Mine seem to work when ever they feel like it but typically everytime i've been at the opc they've been working as they should be!

mine too....

seems very random and works when it wants to whether the lights are on or not !
