On my search for that perfect 993, came across a R Reg C2S with 53K on the clock and a service history.

The only deficit is that it has had signs of door strap repair which is reflected in the price (£29K).

Is this something 993 drivers are familiar with?

How much will it cost to get it fixed it is becomes a problem.

Here are some pics. As always, Maxy M and the rest of the forum crew, your help is welcome

Nishal,

One of the common problems on 993 is brocken door check straps. Really its a manufacturing problem. They can be repaired invisibly or as some do by welding on the outside visible side of the a pillar. You can guess which one costs more.

Its not a sign of an abused car. If it needs fixing its one of the things to be reflected in the price.

Hi,

I remember seeing this car ages ago. It's been for sale for a very long time on Autotrader, I would say atleast 4 months.

Make sure you get the car checked out by a Porsche Specialist before commiting and make sure that the service history is complete by calling all the stamps in the service book.

Good luck

No biggy at all- indeed most 993s will or have had this problem. It arises out of an inherent weakness in the design.

By all accounts, welding is not a permanent solution, but considerably cheaper that dismantling the door which is what is required to do a proper repair.

£29k looks a fair price, but you could aim to haggle a bit...

Very common problem. Welding can be done for about £80 but not pretty as weld can be seen or to do the job properly Porsche supply the whole check strap unit. the old one gets cut out and the new on welded in with no signs of weld on the A pillar. About £400 for this one.

That car has been around for some time and it is a good price so be careful and get it checked and HPI'd

That price appears worryingly low for a C2S. I may be out of touch with prices. What do other forum members think?

Seems about OK to me, assuming it's in decent nick.

I know that car too. I take it it's still at that dealer up in Cheshire?

I did not inspect the car, but I wouldn't expect the 'repaired check straps' to be the reason for the low price. I mean, it's a C2S. Late registration, and reasonably low mileage (below average anyway).

Most similar cars are not much under 34k...Why hasn't it been snapped up by now?

Have you had a look at this car??? It has just appeared on Ebay now! Does anyone know why it is going for not a lot. Door check straps needing repair doesnt warrant the car being sold at what seems a silly price. There must be something not right???

Looks like 'priced to sell' to me rather than too cheap.

As long as properly inspected hpi'd etc, someone could get themselves a great car for a good price.

I agree, it sounds cheap for a C2S, make sure you get it check out first.
