I'm looking at getting cruise control retrofitted to my 1999 996.

I do a lot of motorway stuff and have found it quite difficult to achieve a constant speed. My car is an Tip and thought it had it on as standard and have subsequently found that the stalk is missing.

Any idea where I could ge this fitred in the Birmingham area.

Cheers Joe

P.S Does anyone know of an upholstery specialist who can repair trim panel that has the rollover bars in it? There is some wear around the locating holes where the hardtop pins locate?

Joe,

I've got the control stalk if you need it. I suspect it's going to be an expensive retrofit though (in total)

Marc,

When you say expensive to fit - what's expensive?

AMD - do retrofit cruise on AUDI's etc and they charge about £250.00 all in. Perhaps this is not comparable with the amount of work that would be required on the 996.

Thanks for the offer of the stalk, but I guess first of all I have to see whether it would be cost effective to get it supplied and fitted in one hit.

Out of interest how did you come by the stalk (I'm assuming that the car is already pre-wired for the stalk) or have you got that as well?

Cheers Joe

in their your OPC could fit this or even a specialist.. Autobahn are up n Coventry

in theory cruise control is basically an add on, so if they have al the parts then plugging it in shouldn't be too hard ????

worth calling autobahn, as if they can't do it then no one can !

When my wife had a SAAB convertible it was just a case of buying they stalk from the dealer as all wiring etc was already there apparently.

In the new 911 mag, Rob Mugglestone has had a retrofit cruise fitted to his 964.
