996 Knocking at low speeds

After driving "enthusiastically" for long stretches (i.e. over 1hr) I can hear a knocking noise in the front of my (1999) 996 c2 whilst driving at low speeds. This can best be described as having a couple of golf balls rolling around in the boot (no, I have checked!).

This doesn't seem to be affected by steering, but I can't be sure on that one.

Any ideas gratefully received.

It's something in the front suspension, we had this too. I can't remember exactly what it is though. Take it to your OPC and they will know, because it's a common problem.

I have identical problem, which I belive to be the anti roll bar links. Difficulty is, I can't get the old ones off. The bottom has come off ok, but the top is jammed in the strut hub.
