finally got a german car dealer (not -opc) to do deal to part-ex my LHD TT

for a early 1996 LHD 993 Targa, Manual metallic black with black leather interior with 141000 kms on the clock for about £23k 'ish.....

getting a normal TUV check done (equiv' of MOT), but trying to fly out this friday to have a look at it.. (somewhere in the middle of deepest & darkest germany)...

otherwise no chance of gettig any specialists to check it out.. but got all the 993 guides (peter morgan's & the 911 buyers guide) when I fly out......

so kind of hoping it's a good 'em ! if it seems ok, I will get it as the trade in for the TT is quite good............

Looking ok ? If I do bu yit, the plan is to get it check over by a specialist over ehere.. and I'm assuming I might have up to £1k of work that may need to be done....

When I get the car back, what kind of conversions will I need to do to get it uk registered.. it does have the on-board computer,

how easy is it to 'flick' the headlamps across ? (switch isn't it ?)

and cant recall (!) the position / side of the rear fog light and reversing light !

Excellent! Congratulations! You won't need to post so many threads anymore

The reversing lights are in the bar thingy that goes across the rear.

Don't know about the LHD particulars, sorry.

Headlights are 2 minute job, rear lights are not a problem. Only problem you may have is speedo reading from kph to mph but a lot seem to get away with it.

cheers

it has the on board computer which iirc has the speed in mph....

any instructions on how to flick the lights across ?

Open the bonnet, pull the carpet off the inside of the wing, twist the brass - coloured lever and the headlight pops out. there is a flat metal kinda hoop that has notches cut in it, swing it over and reverse the process to replace.

30 minutes if you have never seen any of this, 2 minutes if someone gives you a physical demo first.

My electronic speedo is in KPH (is there an easy way to change that?) but it has a new face for the analogue speedo, showing MPH.

Mph speedo is not an MOT requirement, but is technically an offence if stopped by the Bill. My LHD 996 computer can be set to show mph on digital speedo and mileage. (IIRC turn button left and hold for 3 secs). Correctly dipping headlights is an MOT requirement as is foglight and its position.

Think that's all but check with someone doing grey imports from Japan or ask your local Plod.

Cheers

Richard
