Hi,



I am looking to but a 993 for a max of £30k. I have never owned a Porsche, so my first one and want to get it right. I will obviously get a Porsche specialist to check it out...(can anyone reccomend one in the North west london area). Having been looking for a few months it seems that some independent dealers are quite reasonable such as Portiacraft...are these guys ok? Does anyone know... because when i've spoken to the guy on the phone he seems very reluctant to help.

For a PPI in that area you could use JZ Machtech - Kings Langley, Herts (on the M25). I use them for my work and have been impressed so far:

I don't know Portiacraft as I have bought my 911's privately.

Private or dealer,

First rule, only buy from someone you can trust and feel happy parting with the cash.....

Private or dealer, remember that a dealer has much greater legal responsibility to you, irrespective of any warranty, a private sale is largely without recourse....so a decent dealer will be preparing his cars to a standard and often investing in refurbishments that the private seller avoids....so if buying from a dealer ask exactly what has been refurbed, or what will be. Judge value with this in mind.
