Hi

Driving along doing around 50mph the engine started to hunt, then the engine warning light comes on, got the car off the road, the engine sounded like it was a tin full of nails.......but on tick over it sounds fine, water temp ok, oil press fine.......gases only coming out of one exhaust, none out the other.........help...car is a 996 C4 2001 with 30k on the clock

Any advice please, before I need to put it into a dealer!!

Regards

Steve

doesn't sound good, exhaust gases out of only one exhaust would lead me to conclude that your valves are only fully operational on one bank of three cylinders.

Cam or cam belt failure? Not sure if 996 cams are belt or shaft driven?
