993 C2 OR C2S

52000mls it has 18" wheels

That price was the max I was thinking at a push although think the market is strong at the moment (for sellers).

Will

Go for it and buy a 2S, it will look the business and to be honest, how much weight difference are we talking about and who do you know who can drive a 911 anywhere near its limit! There is more than enough power in either of the cars mentioned.

Don't get caught in the weight/speed hype they all perform well especially the RS (we all know that). If its looks and power you are after the 2S has both. If you go for the 2 you will still be thinking the 2s looks better (WIDER)

Go, buy and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2S, you will never look back. You get what you pay for!!

Cheers

Colin

Ok I flew to Edinburgh last Saturday - liked what I saw :

993 2S - 97' - Arctic Siver - Grey Leather - A/C - S/R - Leather Dash (around dials) - Factory Silver dials - Factory single CD player - 6speed. Body is "S" standard - 2 owners - FPSH.......

I came to terms on a price subject to PPI and new tyres (see other thread).

OPC Edinburgh inspected yesterday and found only the things I found or was made aware of and its all ok. They feel the cluth is ok.

I was planning to collect it tomorrow but probably Friday morning now as needs the rear rubber changed....

Thanks so far for all the help etc.

Thanks Phil..... I'm getting impatient now, just want to go and get it and every hour I wait the airflight goes up. The seller is using a friend of his to get the tyres done and he's waiting for confirmation that they have arrived.

I've waited long enough now so an extra day.........

Wel done Will.

You've made a great choice. It looks exactly the same as mine. Don't get hung up on sports seats, the standard ones look far better and are extremely comfortable. I specifically bought one with the standard seats.

Hi i am also currently looking for a c2s or a c4s. I have seen in at a Dealers it is a 96 p 52000 miles with 2 previous owners. FPSH. What do you think is a far price for this car i have been looking for one of these for a while now it it has to be silver.

It does depend on if it needs any work and I would get a PrePurchaseInspection by a Porsche Specialist or OPC (even if it's a specialist dealer - though it may come with a warranty). My car was the same but 97 P and from a private seller, I knew it needed front strut work which in the end came to close about £1800. If it is a C2S manual at that milage 45-60,000 miles it is very likely (depending on how it has been driven) to need a new clutch soon. If it has already had one lately then quids in. JZ want £775ex vat for a clutch replcement. Then their is servicing 60000 mls (12000ml service or 12 months) once again JZ want £290 ex vat. Buyers guides are well worth the money.

Back to the question. These "S" models as you are probably aware do command a premium - from what I can see a mint C4S with low mileage are being advertised at £40000 and C2S about £1000/2000 less. So assuming you find a car that does not need any work - mint - FPSH etc. one would expect to get a seller down by 1 or 2 thousand pounds - so depending on the model and mileage lets say £37/39,000 and then deduct for any of the work mentioned above and tyres other faults etc.

Does it have any modifications - spoilers etc., strange colours... (appreciate you want Silver which is good colour). The cars I looked at the dealers 2-3 months ago that had spoilers - air intakes - strange colours and were "boyed up" are still on their websites so probably forecourts today.

All of that needs to be taken into consideration and can be used.

I got my seller down by £3000 and it was hard work !! Another buyer was going to look at it the next day and I nearly lost it.... I travelled about 500miles one way and the other buyer would have travelled slightly less.

Hope I haven't gone on too much and it helps - the true value is down to you :?

Thanks for that garage is a porsche specialist. It has got a factory fitted turbo front spoiler and the turbo s from small lights. no other modiifcations. It has the sports seats and 18ich turbo alloys again factory fitted. The car needs new discs and pads two new front tyres and a service the dearler said he will do all this work but the cost of the car would be £37000. It comes with a 3 months warrently parts and labour. It is also a c2s maual. Do you think i should get a independent inspections. I think i was the other purchaser on your car. It was from scotland about 6 weeks ago.

I do not know if the c

Continued.

I do not know if the car has had a new clutch would this be in the service book?

The car is silver with grey leather the same as yours.Should i make sure the front spoiler and the small lights and the wheels where factory fitted. can you check with porsche for a list or should there be something in the service book? Also do you think it matters if the service is Main dealer or specialist. It has had main dealer service from new should i continue it?

Also do you know where the chassis/vin number would be. There is a number in the window and a sticker underneath the bonnet. I went to have a look at a c4s and the vin number was on a plate somewhere in the boot/engine
