Hi All - I've been reading the forum for months now (keeping very quiet!), learning as much as i can from you guys and thank you very much! From months of deliberation I just bought a 1996 993 TT :)
, silver with blue leather, Gemballa exhaust and 35K. Love the car and thanks again for all the advise.

Now for some more questions:

1. It has a FPSH - is it avisable to carry this on, or could I take it to Camtune as it seems to have a pretty good reputation (plus its only 5 mins away!) - obviously saves a few pennies now but what happens to the resale???

2. Any ideas which forward facing baby seat fits in the back?

3. Are there any social events in the Surrey area?

4. To follow.................

Hi Martin - welcome! - and a great choice, sounds lovely.

1) Since it's TT, I'd personally be tempted to continue with it if you can afford it, having said that Camtune would provide an equal, if not better job than a main dealer anyway. I don't think many people would be put off buying a 7 year old car that had one or two specialist stamps in the book, I wouldn't.

2) I've gone the official route and bought a Porsche Prince seat for my two year old. Cost about £95, but then another £110 to have the belt extended to fit around it as the belt lengths in 993's are rather short. Before you do anything, give Quickfit Safety Belt Service a call - 020 8206 0101 (Middlesex) - they can supply a better seat than the Prince (I didn't know this until after I bought mine!).

3) I belive the guys on this board are organising a little get togther on the 8th Oct, though I think it's more in the Kent direction - but hey, you could stretch the TT's legs a little! -

Congratulations on buying a fantastic car Martin! Excellent choice. I would be tempted to stick with the OPC service history despite the fact that you can definitely get as good service, if not better elsewhere. When it comes to resale I doubt value will be affected but some buyers will feel more comfortable with a FPSH (even though it is not any better than a specialist FSH)

Hi Martin,

Great choice of 911. If you fancy giving her a blast on the 8th Oct, a few of us will be getting together for Ruby/Half a shandy (See Kent/East Sussex get together thread). Delighetd to see you if you can make it. On the servicing front, Mazz mentioned something to me about Lindbrook of Tonbridge (Kent OPC) do reduced rates for cars over 4 years old. I dont know if other OPC's do the same or what the exact details are but you could give them a shout on 01732 352222. I would buess that this is their way of attracting regular business that would otherwise go to the specialists.

Thanks for the comments - think I will be going the OPC route - and unfortunately Quickfit Safety Belt Service does not have any baby seats in stock and they don't know when they get them in!

I'm not sure if I can make this meet as (for my sins) I will be in Serbia for a few weeks - but the next one for sure
