I've just reg'd today and thought I'd give a brief intro. I got behind the wheel again 2 weeks ago of my dream car a 993 c2 in iris blue 18" turbo wheels (my Xmas present to myself ).It was like a coming home as 3years ago I got rid of a 3.2 for a boxster (bad move) and with a brief(9 months but 18,000mls) flirtation with civic type r (my excuse was the wife was expecting!) Just a quick question does anyone have any info on roof racks as we plan to go around europe and the boot isn't huge!

The only time I have seen a 911 with a roof rack it was in 911 & Porsche World and was attached to the top of editor, Phil Raby's 964. Perhaps you could drop him an email/letter. Let us know how you get on.

James

Gregsy. Surfing trips to Croyde?! I surf at Croyde now and then too!!! Normally stay in one the campsites by the beach. Have you been at all during this cold spell? I have to admit I have bottled out!

PS Sorry bellies for an off-topic post!

I love it there, far less commercialised then newquay. Stunning beaches and great pubs, I stay at saunton beach villas usually, its right on the beach at saunton sands and only a couple of miles from croyde. Too be honest I havent been since the summer either (fair weather surfer), but intend to go again as soon as it warms up a bit, you can imagine how cold that sea is at the moment!

Getting back to roof racks if we may ! I noticed a 2nd hand one for sale in the back of Porsche Post - didn't say what it had been on though. Bellies let me know if you are still interested and I'll dig out the phone number for you.

Thanks Jamie I've already given him a ring if its the one for £185. He's sending me a photo in situ on his 1979 911. We both think the roof line hasn't changed until 996 and therefore should fit using the rain gutters. He said they cost him £400! just for the bars. The main problem is I live in North Yorks (fun this morning 285 bhp thru' 2x18" plus a covering of snow and ice as I travelled over the moors, concentrates the mind!!)and he lives somewhere in home counties land. As for the ski attachments well hows my wideboy board gonna fit poxy ski attachments!

I'll keep everyone informed of progress with roof bars
