It's time to sort my Dansk exhausts as they have gone on the flexi joint.

I had a thought they were about to fail, as the MOT test highlighted air was getting into the system and made the reading wrong, but managed to pass when they tried the other side.

Just before Christmas it blew properly,

So I have a choice and that's to do the flexi pipe repair or replace. My question is how long will the flexi pipe repair last or do I need to bite the bullet and replace.

Thanks in advance.

You know they have a 5 year warranty right?

Not worth the paper its written on, unfortunately. They told Alex to FRO and left him to it, hence he decided, with the help of Top Gear Exhausts, to shame them out proper.

I had a feeling that was the case,

however when I called eurocarparts this morning and told them I wanted to make a warranty claim on my Dansk exhaust. I was told they no longer sold Dansk and that was the end of the conversation.

Do I go straight to Dansk?

Thanks in advance
Shaun

ECP still sell Dansk. Alexs situation was a complete balls up by every party involved.

Where did you buy them from?

Thanks for the confirmation, I have just checked on Eurocarparts website and can see that they have the exhaust in stock at the branch that told me they no longer sold Dansk.

I feel another call to the manager tomorrow to see how far I get.

Thanks for that, I did a search earlier and could not find them.

I will read Alex's thread again, I have the original receipt for the system and I am the purchaser so they should have no get out.

Will keep the thread updated.

As long as it's not handled like the other case in anyway you should be ok, don't give in, it's 5 years as long as they haven't been bashed about like Alex's ones they should warrant them

Dansk are a bit of a budget option imho .. the problem with the flex joint is down to how they are made and how they are fitted ..

If not adjusted correctly .. or if poor build then it puts a lot of stress on the joint leading to an early failure ... you have to adjust .. if possible .. to reduce the stress on the flexi join .

I can only say this as i have had to fit them and know the difficulties .. stress is the problem .

Just imho .

I bought a cracked dansk muffler and welded this part in as a replacement. Worked perfectly.

If you bought them from ECP you have a chance.

Thanks Alex,

I have just had a lengthy conversation with customer support who really only deal with online orders mine was an over the counter from the branch. However, as I told them the story about the branch they have confirmed.

1. That the product is the right fitment for the car.
2. They do stock the exhaust still.

I asked them to confirm the warranty and they were unable to find that out, they believe it is only a 2-year warranty but have contacted the product specialist - Paul who is not in today to confirm what it is.

But great service from the online services team so far,

Alex - I have sent you a PM asking for a copy of the email you received from ECP about the 5-year warranty.

Watch this space.

It’s worth preserving with ECP. My Porsche Indy bought the Dansk exhausts they fitted to my car from ECP. When the exhaust failed at the flexible joint after 18 months, ECP provided a replacement free of charge
