Not wanting to get involved in this particular car but I can add that the Gen 2 engines we have stripped have had brilliant internal engine conditions in most areas (especially crankshafts and after over 100K as well).
Apart from those very rare ones that seized - the rest of the engines seem excellent and so high mileage should not be as big and issue as with Gen 1 cars.
However if the bore has scored (unlikely statistically but ref to black tailpipe) it will need rebuilding! Bore can be checked of course.
