I wanted a 991 GT3. Can't afford one this year. Nearly tempted by a 997 Turbo, but again timing not right. Would have settled for a 996 ,but only a C4S or a Turbo, definitely not a narrow body C2, and certainly not with the 3.4 engine.......

So I bought a 3.4 C2 😂

So the car is a year 2000 NI car from new. 4 owners and 63k miles, it has definitely been well looked after. Have never seen history like it before, with all previous owners names and addresses, every mot from 2004, certificate of authenticity, a stack of invoices and previous owner was meticulous with documenting everything.

No sunroof, manual, small steering wheel which I wasn't keen on at first but used to it now, designtek full exhaust though still not very loud. Seems to tick all the boxes and I love the way it drives. It's my first Porsche so still getting used to it.

Have been browsing the various threads on here and have a load of jobs I now want to do to keep it right.

Had it round Donegal last weekend and found it to be great fun. Also can hear a knocking from front left when turning right, so need to look into that. Appears to have had coffin arms and top mounts all done recently so who knows. I work abroad so the car is ticked up for a month at a time but will definitely get enjoying it again on the road as soon as possible.

Looks great !!
Welcome from a fellow 996.1 c2 aero owner
:thumb:

Me too, great looking 996 congrats :thumb:

Look forward to see your progress, I'm on my second C2 and going through the motions of getting mine how I want it,

Welcome. Looks great 8)

Looks good and in a nice garage set-up!
In fact, with a couple of subtle differences it looks the same as my recent acquisition. I like your coloured wheel centres

I see you've found your way on here. It's a great spot for info

Cheers all for the comments

Yes, thanks for the point in the right direction Ned. So much info on here, it's great! Will definitely have to get up to see and hear yours at some point.

No problem but I'd say you'll not get to hear it for a while

I seem to be learning a bit as I go so I might be able to help with anything you need.

Anyways, ask away on here. And some great projects going on but you need some serious time to read up on them :floor:

Ah didn't realise yours was fully off the road! Always next year.

Yes have just spent the last day at work reading through Marky911 thread on his black aero kitted 996, it's pretty much the same direction as i want to take mine eventually.

:welcome: to 911uk

Hi

Nice car you will have fun with that. Especially if you like tinkering.

I'm a 993 owner, but I think the 996's are a good mix of old/new tech, and fast enough for real world use (as are the 993's). Mind you maybe i'm just getting old and my previous self would really need 400bhp. I also have a soft spot for the narrow body variants, again because of usability.

Berni

I totally agree berni. Although a little more power would be great, I'm more than happy with what it has. I have the C63 estate and a motorbike for going quick in/on.

I'll probably concentrate on sorting the handling out first, maybe a light refresh if the underneath. And I really want the D911 GT3 type buckets as the standard non sports seats aren't great for support.

I'm keen on the seats myself and almost pulled the trigger on them at the Black Friday sale but I'm abut 'bulky" these days and would rather try them on for size first. So if you get a set I'd like to get my arse in them :floor:

I had looked at other options online but you never know until your sitting in them. I've also made other purchases I need for the car so the kitty has taken a bit of a battering.

I have sports seats but I'm not keen on them. I've always threatened to put them up for sale but atm I'm not sure I could actually get them out of the car as it's tight in the garage. Also the market in our area wouldn't be great for people to come and view condition

I'm sure you chaps have all used buckets in a sports car before, so forgive me - but the difference it made to my enjoyment of my C2 was enormous when I moved from a hard-backed sports seat to a Recaro SPG.

The connection you feel to the car when you move with it, rather than slide across it (even slightly) during cornering is hugely increased.
