I have bought a Vauxhall trw power steering pump o fit in my 996. Obviously not a boxster but the fronts the same so I thought I'd ask fo info on here.
Has anyone here done it?
I've no real problem tackling the task but what I do want is, can I cut and join the the high pressure pipe?
When I say I, I mean a hose specialist like Pirtek. I called them in Belfast today and they said they wouldn't know until the cut the pipe open. Obviously if they cut it open and can't do it, im screwed as the pipes are expensive. Another hose specialist told me the same thing.

I can buy the fittings for the rack from rebel in the USA but I don't want to be waiting on parts at this time of year.

If I could splice into the original pipe and run a new pipe to the pump would be ideal.

Can anyone help shed some light?

Great. I'll get the grinder out  :D

Can I ask where you get the hoses through into the frunk?

Interesting. Were you able to feed the pipes down the side of the fuel tank?

Are you running a small battery in the same location?

I mounted it where the battery goes :)

I think what we could do with is pics and some info on how you did it. I'd like to do this in future and take all the lines out running front to back.

Has anybody sourced an alternative belt for this, so the power steering can be removed and not fit a huge idler in its stead?

I haven't got that far but Ive done away with the air con as well so I was possibly going to ask ela as that's what he has done.

Belt is Contitech 6PK2065 according to Aivars Riddlers on FB.
