New (to me) 2008 957 cayenne turbo

the flap nearest the transmission tunnel on the passenger side will give you access to the chassis negative connection, no need to lift the seat.

Thats really handy to know. :thumb: Can`t picture it right now so will check out the flap tonight as that will save me time for anything else in the future i`m sure.

Gave the car a good clean today and wax protection before winter really sets in.

Decided it was about time I checked the front drains. When I pulled the bung a good litre or so if water poured out. Quite alarming really. Found a random screw in there which combined with a few wet leaves has now all been cleared. Fortunately the carpets are bone dry but at least I can sleep a bit easier as night now knowing this has been done

The amount of crud caught at the bottom of the trim panel was unbelievable but it all cleans up nicely once it's removed :thumb:

The battery was flat last weekend and although it started fine after an overnight trickle charge my ctex was indicating it was time to replace so fitted a new Bosh S5 015 that I got from Tayna Batteries £129 delivered. Thought that wasn't a bad price and significantly cheaper that euro car parts were offering. Incidentally I think Porsche charge around £400 to replace.

Jumped in the car the other week and the fan decided to stop working. Worked when on full but nothing in between.

Its a very simple DIY fix although the fans from Porsche (PN: 7L0 820 021 N or 95557234301) will set you back about £375. The resistors about £150 (7L0 907 521 or 95557234102).

These fans are the same across VW, AUDI and plenty of cheap ones around for under £70. I decided to go slightly upmarket and fitted a a Nissens 87076 for around £130. The fans are sided so one for a LHD vehicle wont fit.

Had a new resistor on standby but wasn't required so that will be going back.

Nice to have this working again.

Noticed the sub wasn`t working and to my surprise the reason was a pond in the boot. :frustrated:

Left by bottle of very expired tyre glue. Fortunately it was so old that the liquid has separated and therefore didn`t harden when it leaked out.

30 min later and was all cleaned up and looking new again...minus the working sub.

Nice thread. My next purchase may well be a Cayenne or Macan but the later version. Prices on these are so cheap now though. Crazy when you think what they cost new.

Thanks guys.

I too have been looking at the 958`s particularly the 4.2 diesel but for the moment I`m quite enjoying tinkering with our turbo not to mention that the power is quite addictive also.. :thumb:

That's the one I've been looking at. They seem to be very good prices I assume because of the big engine. But I'm also tempted to just go for the turbo. Maybe a Macan turbo. Not sure yet.

Hard to believe we have owned this for almost 5 years.

The headlights were looking pretty poor so treated them to a polish with the Autoglym kit. They have come up very well although it will be interesting to see how long they stay like this.

Also swapped the roof bars over to black which i think is a visual improvement.

Looks good. I've been toying with getting my roof bars sprayed Basalt Black to match the car too as they are currently the alu finish. The rest of the car is dechromed so the bars look a bit weird.
