Marky's 996 ownership thread.

A lovely looking GT3 and my favourite from your original list, it needs a 'Carrera' console delete though!

All the best :thumb:

Cheers lads, I'll be brief as I'm in the middle of sealing my garage floor to try and keep the bloody dust down a bit. :frustrated:

Cheers Raggy. It is just like my old one isn't it and I swore I'd never buy a black one again due to the upkeep. Beggars can't be choosers though.

Hi Chris, yes there's quite a gulf between Clubbies. Always was I suppose.
Again in the theme of this purchase, beggars can't be choosers. :D

Thanks Graham and Ady. I think you touched on this Graham but will it be as special the second time round and when I've come from a fully sorted C2?
Time will tell.
And as you touched on Ady, have these cars got a way to fall yet? Who knows, but it's a safe-ish bet to me, especially compared to buying a newish M2/3 or something which is where I'd started to look recently.
As ever I'm never in it for the money and you'll never see me talking a market up etc. I love the cars and they cost you one way or another if you maintain them right, but if I don't have huge depreciation to contend with that suits me.

Cheers Jez and thanks BHZ.
"Carrera console delete"
It will get one but after my road trip as the console doesn't interfere with me (6ft tall on a good day  ) and the cubbies are handy for docs and phones etc.

Hi Will, Cheers. Yep black again. Nightmare, hence trying to sort my garage floor a bit.
It's not perfect anyway and it will stay like that for a couple of years. I hope.

So anyway, collection this Saturday and no doubt a new thread, although it will be a lot slower than my C2 one.

Anyway, I think my mate Mark (Ralf) is signing up on here so he may continue this thread.

We'll no doubt be on runs out and things so there'll probably be some crossover between threads, as with Craig and his silver one.

We've all been mates for over 20 years now and it's thanks to Mark I can buy these cars as he got me into engineering at a late age 21. I've since technically served my time like you should from 16-20 but anyway.

Long story that one but a great example of how life pans out.
The short version is me and Craig were pizza delivering in my Escort RS Turbo when I was 18. One night we raced this lad (Mackie - no longer with us unfortunately) in a Nova GTE. We parked up and had a chat and ended up becoming good mates.

Anyway, Ralf lived in Mackie's street and we were introduced, right when we both going to do our bike Direct access tests. The rest is history.
Many years of cars, bikes, clubbing, etc, etc passed and we are all still mates, somewhat older, greyer and balder but probably no wiser.

So anyway I'm glad the C2 has gone to a good mate and I'm looking forward to a summer of good times, like the olden days. We've all had a bit of the more serious side of life to deal with the last few years, so hopefully we'll get a break in 2019 and recapture that excitement of youth...... Probably not though.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling, I'm done here. New thread to follow with more pointless thoughts and drivel.

Roll on Saturday! I bet I don't sleep on Friday night. How sad eh, still getting excited about a car collection at 41 years old.

Cheers for all the opinions and help throughout this thread. I've said it before and we all know already but what a great forum. Really really good group of people on here and some good banter.

Thanks. :flowers:

PS. OK I wasn't brief. Bad habit of mine that. Anyway I'm off to get another coat on the garage floor. :bye:

So forget the car till Saturday... what are you putting on the garage floor?

I used cheap paint from Screwfix, it's great where the concrete of the floor was hard but useless where it is dusty.

Completely unrelated, I'm up in Newcastle this weekend, I'll drop you a pm

Mike

Hi Mike,

I've given it a primer coat then a thicker coat of waterproof PVA.
I'm not painting the floor until I've done the walls and I'm not doing the walls until I have two windows bricked up and I'm only doing that if we definitely aren't moving. You see the thought processes my brain goes through for the least little job.

I've had to do one half of floor on Saturday then the other half yesterday and today.
All done now. I'll still get dust from the breeze block walls but hey-ho.

I'll go with Moto-tile once I do it properly but I want to rewire it and add more lighting etc etc.

Yep give me a shout. We may be out for a brekkie run from Morpeth area to Kielder reservoir on Sunday or Monday if you're out and about. That's if I haven't pulled the car to bits by then.

Looks great mark.

I'd be jealous of that one

I now own Marky's C2  :D

Extremely pleased

I'll start my own ownership thread soon!
Love the car

Nice one adamw. Pleased for you that you've got what you were after and then some..... Marks / your car has to be one of the best looked after in the country.
