Counter Of Beans's 993

...I would; I prefer an automatic these days :D

Then your 993 will be 5 to 10k cheaper, especially if you also make it a cab or a Targa, result

A great bunch of replies folks, thank you. To answer a couple of questions:
Albionmuz - definitely no regrets about changing from a 997 to this 993 (sorry Spongebob, you told me I was mad but I guess we want different things from our cars).
GMG - are 993's better (than, say, a 997) for driving satisfaction? I'd say it depends what you value. If A to B speed, blistering acceleration and a modern cabin are what satisfy you, then no, they're not. I honestly don't care about SatNav, in-car mobile connectivity or even in-car audio, I really don't. I'm not bothered about having 400+ bhp or 0-60 in under four seconds, because you just cannot use that performance safely on public roads - not where I live, anyway.

So what do I find satisfying? I think - and it's early days yet - it's driver engagement. The manual gearbox is part of that, including a quite heavy clutch. The steering is very direct, much more than a 991 for example. You have to think about which gear to be in and there's no turbo surge at low revs. The engine sounds much "closer" to the driver compared to the distant whirring in a standard (non-PSE) 997.2. The doors shut with a delicious click. And it smells like an oily machine, because it is! I don't recall my 997 smelling of anything at all. The brakes need a really firm press, but they are very strong when needed. The windscreen wipers are a work of art! You can actually see the engine, unlike in some Porsches where they hide it under a plastic cover.

The only thing so far that I really don't like is the crappy carpet in the frunk which is all saggy and held on with velcro. I think I'll remove it and polish up the frunk interior. Oh, and the headlights are pretty weedy, but I've got BergvillFX's HID bulbs on the way to sort that.

I'll update with mods as they happen, but can never hope to compete with Jonttt's legendary ownership thread :worship: :worship:
