Echoing the usability and sound of the NA GTS engine. In the 991 its nothing short of incredible, im sure the 997 gives a very similar experience. Having sold my last 997.2 due to the sound (or complete lack of it) a turbo is going to take the lack of sound to new levels.

Good to see all the GTS owners have weighed in :D

Agree with SB one thing I found about the gen 2 997 engine even with PSE is that it sounds fabulous at idle if you blip it and at cold start but when ringing the neck out of it not as hard edged as you'd like. Turbo even quieter. Now the 991.1 GTS sounds epic..

Ah the old 'you can't use the power" argument so classic these days of those with slower cars :floor:

My view is the torque of the turbo means the power is right there at normal revs the moment you need it (997 turbos don't lag much unless you're really in the wrong gear). You can access that between 30 and 60 (70) on country twisties just fine. In a GTS you're going to have to ring it's neck. Now that's hard to use on the road.

I'll take mine along as soon as the engine/gearbox/chassis are all in intimate contact again..

Excellent. I'm reliably informed by the lady who owns this 991.2 turbo s cab that she didn't lose a race up the track all day. Leave your fanny packs at home lads and come out and play. No point if you have a 500,600,700 or 1200hp turbo if you can't drive it - she beat me too 720bhp v 580bhp

This was a somewhat interesting take on a valuation thread (please don't get me wrong, but I don't usually bother, as I don't live in the UK, and in this country I'd need the equivalent of two 2010 9972 C4Ss to buy and tax a decent 9972 GT3 and I don't have those sort of funds).

So to answer the question (as I'm in neither camp) I'd vote GTS as long as you leave it stock for the purists/collectors when you sell it in 12 months' time.

Weekend Toy buy a GTS....Turbo with its 4wd is probably a better daily.

Turbo'sare quite marmite....lots of people buy them and find them a bit dull because they're too fast. Cars get exciting when you are driving them close to the edge of their performance...B road in a GTS you can have loads of fun.

All this talk - it is all about the torque. Turbo up to legal speeds is all you need and beyond; who wants to work hard for a living and have fun

I need to know... did you actually type that with a straight face??

Because to quote a well known publication and their contemporary quote, sounds so dull like a daily driver : :floor: :floor:

GTS - the sound and ability to wring its neck more in the UK

Turbos are just too mad for this country and best in Germany on the ABs

Plus lots more things on them to go wrong

I've had my Turbo 6 years and the only thing that has gone wrong on it is needing to replace the condensers for the AC. Granted I've modified it (a lot) but the mechanicals have been bullet proof.

"lots of people" :?:

Too fast ........ maybe ...... but dull, I don't think so.

Some people sell them as they prefer with more sense of occasion but this normally just means they want something louder.

Save yourself some time and money , go straight for The Turbo......

The GTS would only pique your interest then as many do , once the 997 gets under your skin ...

you would be tempted to go for the Turbo anyway .....
