996 C4S serious drivability issue following paint shop visit

Lets just say I'm led to believe they know how to charge. Unique Porsche at Westhoughton are getting some very good reviews off local lads on price, knowledge & customer service and I think Darren (owner) is quite an expert on the 996. I've never used them but have met Darren and he's a decent lad.

My 996 is going into Unique based on a recommendation from my 997 owning mate. They seem spot on.

Sounds like the geometry is out.

When I replaced suspension arms and mounts its felt awful to drive, heavy steering and weird behaviour.

Once setup up its great again.

Could it have been jacked in the wrong place?

Airbag light is probably from them faffing with the battery, just reset it with a code reader. Next time, tell them to put the key to position one and then disconnect the battery - stops the alarm going off.

So a bit of an update on my 996 c4s steering issue. Got the car to Darren at Unique Porsche. Extremely nice chap, immediately fixed air bag light and established reason for light will have been the doors being removed for paint.

A day later he phoned to tell me the steering issue was due to the steering column universal joint seizing up. Lubricated it and now its fine again. Six weeks of sitting idle at the paint shop the likely reason. Seams imposable given the car was verging on un-drivable.

He's found a list as long as your arm of other faults with the car so Is now on fixing those.

Yet to pick the car up or get the bill. But been very pleased with their service and manner so far.

I constantly here nothing but good stuff about Unique and Darren. Met him at Llandudno, very nice chap.

The steering .. nothing to do with the body shop ..

A little disappointed they let a car go out without turning off the airbag light .. It's a pretty obvious fault if you disconnect an airbag and then turn on the ignition .. not something the customer should be left to deal with .

i'm guessing they don't have a tester ... rather sad in this day and age .

I had an issue with 'feel' of the car after my anti-roll bars were changed. Maybe the rear one was disconnected and not put back properly?

Also you should consider they may have deliberately done something such as remove something for another customer. Unlikely but not unheard of.
