Basically what your car looks like from the underside when all the trays have been removed ..

You can see the tandem pump and high pressure fuel pump .. other than that there's not a lot there .

I Will say a hell of a lot of stones get trapped under these trays .. worth having them removed and cleaned out now and then ..

i ve had one that was 3 dustpans full .. that's well over a bag of sugar in weight .

I agree with needing to get these off once a year to clean out stones. I suggest you also do the wheel arch liners as stones fill up the space around the bottom of the radiators.

The diagonal tie bars from the rear wheels to the centre at the back are a poor design. They have little channels in them that also fill up with stones. The 987 had solid aluminium ones but obviously the accountants got into the drawing office.

Agree re those diagonal tie bars! I don't suppose the earlier solid aluminium ones would fit the 981?

Just looking at those two pipes running down the centre - would they be the radiator feed and return?

Anyhow, good idea re regular removal of these trays for a clean up

The diagonal arms and it wasn't the accountants that did this but it's by design ..

Porsche are all about weight saving .. a gram off this item a gram off of that and it adds up to more power due to less weight .

Trust me Porsche have always operated this way .

Other than the a/c pipes then every other pipe on these runs through the center tunnel .. coolant pipes , brake pipes , fuel pipes etc etc .

A sensible alternative to the previous models as these are not exposed to the weather ... waxoil is not really needed on these models .

The undertrays can collect a huge amount of stones etc .. always worth getting them removed when possible .

I had to clean out the body section at the front to refit the front panel .. the stones stop it fitting otherwise .
