My money's on it being a Beck GP Spyder.

Either Beck or one of the lesser known replicas for sure Thumb

Unusual if it actually has a Porsche engine though, which is what I`m after and actually registered as a Porsche Grin

The more I look at the photos of this 718, the engine looks like a 356/912 lump to me Grin

Further enquiries required I think, it doesn`t appear that the auction house actually have the car on site yet though Sad

I think it will be on site, as they take most of the pictures in a local car park.

I suspect with square section steel tube kinda hints the underpinnings are more farm yard than race track, but it could still be great fun..up to a point Question

You might be in luck.

The advert states it's a 1962 356 with a 1582cc engine. The 1962 356B engine was 1582cc.

If that is the case, with the Beck Spyder body, it seems that the car might not have ben as mis-described as I first thought.

From memories of Beetle fettling in my youth..... that looks very Beetle under the skin to me..... and the advert does refer to it 'not being the real thing' doesn't it.

It does now - It didn't last Friday.

The sentence about it actually being registered in 1985 is new too.

Interesting as it is now being described as a "rebodied" 356, quite why anyone would do that is beyond me Sad

It`s a bit of a Fankenstein by the looks of it and the guide price for what it looks to be is a bit OTT in my opinion, given that an Alfa engined car with a 100% rating sold for 11K at a recent BCA.

It will be interesting to see what it makes Grin
