DSC Sport Plug and Play PASM upgrade

This is all exactly what I experienced, at first I was a bit doubtful about how much it had improved the car. Think I was expecting a 'huge' change but that never happened, it's more subtle.
Then I took it off and ran it for a few weeks and then I could really tell how much it changes the car, for me the car is a lot more comfortable and planted on the road, Sport mode is actually usable on normal roads.
For what you'd pay for lowering, stiffening and a trip to an alignment specialist I think it's a cheap fix.
Another good thing to do is drive a 2002 Boxster for a long trip then hop into your 997 turbo, you really will appreciate how good it is

Ha so true, drove my old 2001 Boxster from London to Cornwell once, that was hell :)

Fitting unit

I am away at the moment so have not even seen the delivery.
I thought that they are 5 minute fit as unplug old one under glove box plug in new one. I have read about wiring them in and removing centre console!
Are they more difficult than it states to fit?
My car is a 997.2 3.8.

They are plug and pray but only if you do not have to add the three axis accelerometer. The main unit is, as you say, easy.

I've just installed my box on my 997.2 S and it is just a 5 minute swap of controllers, no other wiring mods needed on the Gen 2.

What is a DSC Sport V1 worth? I thought it was genius and took it off before selling the car. It's for a 997.2.

Cheers

Fitted mine today, use the power from the switch panel. That is red with a grey tracer as the instructions and is ignition switched. The earth has an eye on it that goes on the stud holding the airbag unit. I removed my complete centre console as it made access so much easier and took advantage to do a couple of other jobs at the same time.
Took it for a drive, sport now only switches sport mode on and doesn't switch the shocks as well as before. They have to be individually switched now. No big deal but it is different. It is different describes how I feel about the ride. Now I only did twenty odd miles so not a full road test! I think sport now is much more useable and is what it should have been originally, but normal is way too tame, I know it is for american taste but too much. Drives like our Passat now. Too much lean and body roll. I will have to play with the programming I think. Is it worth £1300 ? No, I'm afraid not, not as it stands anyway. I reserve judgement as to whether I can get a reasonable compromise in 'normal" mode. Please note though this is not in any way being laid at the door of the team at 9e they have been excellent but at the US manufacturer. I will revisit this thread after a few hundred miles and see if my view has changed.

Keep me updated please as you drive more.

What i would say is that lean and body roll difference should not be there as you described - this can be (I think I had said early in the thread) down to a number of factors including whether the springs are still the stock ones, whether your dampers are in good condition etc etc. Even worn engine mounts can affect as will a poor geometry.

I have written a firmer files specifically where the car spring rate has been changed, as clearly the settings in terms of sensitivity is based on stock. This is why I mentioned for example that cabs need a slightly different file etc. Again like the 991.2 Carrera T has a softer spring when compared to say a 991.2 Carrera GTS.

Get some more miles on it and then review again.

Jon[/quote Second hand people generally pay between £700-£800.

Thanks Ken.

Thank you for this Ken, I shall do just as you advise. On the point of state of shocks/springs, having had the car put on Hartechs Gold scheme for maintenance they did a full check over everything on the car as they are covering it! Front springs are stock and brand new as I had one snap, rear springs are stock but AFAIK 80K old. Shocks are all fine and stock but are showing a little corrosion now. Engine mounts are also brand new. Full geometry done when front springs replaced. Will be putting over 600 miles on it in the next few days so hopefully will be able to get a proper feel for things.

Now installed

Hi

tHanks for the assistance regarding 'plu and play'
I was a bit ham fisted removing the old one and pulled out the plastic bracket as well DOH!

One question is 'V3' the right one for a 997.2 3.8S?
Thought mine would be a V1.

Box says - 02-0997-06-V3-9972
