997 Gen2 Cab vs DB9 Volante - Now my DB9 Diary.

Not only managed to 1,000 miles in a day, but we did it with ease.
The Aston is a brilliant GT car. Very comfortable and effortless.

Another couple of thousand faultless miles under the Astons belt.

Here's a video diary of the trip.

Great thread Les, you are not helping me in my quest to stop looking at Vantage V8s in the classifieds. :pc:

Oh, and good to see someone using a GT as a GT!

I really can't rate it enough. It's not just the car it the whole experience.

People treat you like a celebrity/royal in it, which is the opposite of my 911 (where most people think you're a twa*).

Even on Race weekend in Monaco (where every other car is a Lambo or Ferrari), people take videos and photos of the car all the time. So if your shy, buy something else.

If you do get one, there are currently 15 Astons from the owners club going to Monza next year, and Redbull / AML is arranging for us to visit the Redbull pits during the race weekend.

I'm the one organising it, so let me know if you want to tag along. The plan is: 2 days to get there and to visit Redbull, then 1 day watching the Race, and the final day Driving the best roads in the Alps. After that, we all split up to do our own thing.

It's all being done to a normal budget (eg reasonable priced hotels and no 'black tie' events), as some of us poor Aston owners don't have trust funds and butlers.

Have owned the Aston for two years now and I've just had a problem.

The ABS sensor broke. Luckily it was a Ford/Volvo part and cost £28. Fitted it myself with a torx screwdriver in 5mins

So far so good......

I was looking at a dealers web site that I bought a car from a few years ago.
As I've no 911 at present I've been looking at other marques and I saw an Aston Martin Vanquish V12 5.9 ltrs, stunning car in 'Skyfall Silver' it was only when I was going through the extras that I saw the initial cost price, £220,000.

I thought it was a typo but it isn't, this car has done 10k miles and is for sale at £88,000 so that equates to a depreciation of about £13 per mile.
I'm almost tempted to enquire further as surely it can go much lower.

Agreed. I think they fitted a square one by mistake.

Stunning looking motor that, Nick. Get it!! :)

Apparently the steering wheel is an upgrade, it's the one fitted to the One 77.

They are just motoring pornography

A friend of mine says he went to an Aston dealership and asked about a DB 9, he asked the salesmen if it'll make him feel like James Bond, the salesmen said maybe but you'll definitely Roger More :hand:

The Vanquish is a lovely car, and the values are already back on the rise.

Just to update you all, I had an issue with the car recently. I had to replace an ABS sensor. Ford/Volvo part £28. lol. Brilliant.

Here my DB9 this morning on an early morning shopping run. Even after nearly 3 years, I still stop turn and stare at it.

I did a rear de-cat on mine leaving the other 4 x cats in the front which means it's fine for the MOT etc. Who needs 6 x cats anyway!

I still have the switchable rear box (standard) so I can make it more gentlemen like when required, and bring the volume down to meet track day limits as its now 124db - Louder than a 991 GT3

After 5 years of ownership I still stop and turn around to look at it when I go shopping

Its been super reliable and I have no plans to ever sell it.
