Fortunately I was only a mile from home when this happened and fortunately my car is a tiptronic so it won't roll away before I fix it.

The handbrake shoe material has detached from the shoe , this tends to lock the wheel on that side ..

How bad is the hub ???

Can you get any pictures of that please .

I've seen this a few times on Boxsters .. 1 of which required a new hub due to the damage .

Indys check the handbrake shoes on a major .. OPC don't .. but thats still every 4 years so a long time between checks .. but this is a rare fault .

I can see it's rubbed away a bit of the hub, especially where the handbrake retaining springs push in, but other than that it doesn't look too bad.

My concern is the block the shoes sit on .. if it's still flush then all's good .

Right side of that image .

That was the place the Boxster damaged .. it the shoes don't have a flat base to sit on then basically it needs a new hub .

Ahh I see... I'll get all the bits and see how it looks, rather not have to get a new hub as I've just had all the suspension set up.

I'm glad it's auto and passed it's MOT 2 weeks ago as it buys me a little bit of time if it's worst case scenario.

As always... Thanks for your advice.
