How to get a higher pitched exhaust sound?

Interesting topic. I don't have anything technical to contribute, but here's a clip of mine (standard exhaust GT3) vs Mr C's (Top Gear exhaust, aftermarket manifold Carrera).

You may notice that mine has higher pitch.

Great to hear. Am happy to also offer to undercut the Kirssieg by 50%, for £6,000 fitted we will make it sound exactly how you want it within the DB limits  in fact I suspect we could do it for significantly less as a project the boys would love.

I'd give the X-Pipe cats a go first and see how you get on!

Hi there and sorry for the slow reply!! I've been having my engine rebuilt after some issues so haven't heard the x-pipe cats yet.

I do suspect it will sound good but still be loud (ie too loud for the quieter tracks on the silent setting) - what would be the approach to bring DB levels down? Modify the silencers? I would love to get to a point i am confident rocking up to any track day! Let me know if easier to discuss over the phone when would be a good time to chat.

From https://www.cargraphicts.com/ they seem to have several offerings for the 996, including switchable, & non switchable backboxes.
They claim the non switching variants don't drone, & several options which seem to be increasingly louder: tuv sound, sport sound, & super sport sound

According to the chaps at 9e, Akropovic don't have an offering for the 996 & the Akropovic website doesn't list one for non turbo or GT variant 996's.
9e do offer a sharkwerks exhaust as a cheaper alternative to the kline. From the sharkwerks site, it seems their 996 offering is a "tubi style".
I've not heard these in person, but I'm told it will drone more than the kline.

FWIW based on the lack of drone, sound, performance, & price, I'm considering switching from TG mild boxes, to either the Cargraphic TUV sound or sport sound option along with TG 200cell cats/headers. Perhaps this might be the happy medium you're looking for aswell?

The other option might be to approach TG, or your local powerflow or longlife dealer to see if they could modify your existing back boxes, or build you some custom units to meet your requirements.

These may help:

as another addendum, the following should help find a local outfit to help:
longlife & powerflow are the regional dealer network for Topgear.co.uk
Parr-uk,co.uk are importers for Cargraphic
nineexcellence.com cover kline, akropovic sharkwerks
The latter two are just south of London.

My big bore pipes, Dansk sport silencers and toyomotorsport manifolds are quiet, no drone. And they howl on demand

@sp1ke - yes there are lots of options out there. I have come to the conclusion from my own research that if i want something that gets me through the lower noise limit tests for track days i will need customised silencers. All the switchable boxes are louder than stock on silent, and with the 200 cel cats its even louder. thing is i don't want to give up the option to go louder when possible!
I am hoping the x-pipe cats solve my "tractor sound problem" but it will be a few weeks until i can test them at full rev.

@BillCoupe98 Looks nice, i';m sure it sounds good, the Dansk non switchable boxes sound nice to me.
